Imagine if a power plant running on fracked gas to fuel a 7.5 GW data centre was added to the mix.

When you push out a major government announcement on a Friday afternoon (EST), it's rarely good news for the people affected most.
And the timing - just after the First Nations in Alberta have called for a vote of non-confidence in the Premier of Alberta for her handling of Indigenous concerns.
It will be interesting to see the reaction to this news.
This whole argument about reducing duplication is untrue. The Alberta government hasn't been doing environmental impact assessments. But we are to believe they are going to start picking up the slack as the federal government stands down?

Things were getting heated between Iran's ambassador and the US ambassador just before the meeting ended. Not surprising, given the people involved, I guess.

Saeid Iravani says the actions of US and Israel are an unjustified use of force, and Iran's actions in response are justified self-defence. Diplomacy has been disregarded by the US and Israel, he asserts, requiring Iran to unconditionally surrender. He's calling on the UN to uphold rule of law.
Iran's Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani says more than 100 children were killed when a school was hit (footage being shared on social media), calling it a war crime, and a crime against humanity.
Not that they're worse than Russia, but the fact they scolded everyone for fighting while at the same time engaging in a big, ongoing fight with a neighbouring country was just extremely awkward.
Pakistan's ambassador, just called for the peaceful settlement of disputes and called for diplomacy. Pakistan just carried out airstrikes inside Afghanistan. Iran had offered to mediate.
I thought Russia's ambassador chastising the US was too much, but then Pakistan entered the chat.
And now we have to listen to the US Ambassador Mike Waltz talking about a mission they've dubbed "Epic Fury." Not serious people.
The exact opposite of reasonable, this is an administration operating on emotion, and there appear to be no adults in the room.
Leonor Zalabata Torres, Colombia's Ambassador to the UN seems reasonable.
She's talking about the protection of civilians, and how war does not solve conflicts. She's calling for nuclear disarmament but says the use of force is not acceptable. She's not taking sides but calling for restraint.
