Apropos of SecDef's remarks this morning:
Denial of quarter—even the declaration of no quarter—is a war crime.
And recognized as such by the US Government.

Iowa angles on Iran war; governor's race and legislative news
March 9 edition of "KHOI's Capitol Week"
I sought comment from Iowa National Guard about @jonathanlarsen.bsky.social's story.
They told me: “The Iowa National Guard does not use this kind of language or invoke religious prophecy in connection with military operations.”
(lmk if you hear otherwise)

Deportation threat prompts naming policy at college newspaper in Iowa
Grinnell College student paper trying to balance need to report accurately and do no harm to students with F-1 visas
I never thought I would be in this situation. I have been fairly hard-core about identifying people who take part in public events in which they make statements intended to change public policy because we deserve to know who these people are.

Iowa's school districts are trapped in a Hobson's choice
Bruce Lear: It’s time for Iowa voters to shift the balance of power, so politicians can offer public schools more than Hobson’s choices.
New post by Bruce Lear: The majority party has been in control for a decade, and Iowa schools have received insufficient state funding. It’s time for voters to shift the balance of power, so politicians can offer public schools more than Hobson’s choices.

Only six Iowa House Republicans voted against over-the-counter ivermectin
Laura Belin: The Iowa House debate about ivermectin illustrated how conspiracy theories now drive the mainstream Republican agenda.
Who's up early?
I wrote about a revealing Iowa House debate on ivermectin, which illustrated how conspiracy theories—once confined to fringe elements of the conservative movement—now drive the mainstream Republican agenda. #ialegis

Kristi Noem has done a stunning amount of damage and it’s good she’s gone.
But this doesn’t change the fact that we need a complete overhaul of DHS, impartial investigations into the killings of two American citizens, and information on children that were taken from Minnesota.

We need to pass a House rule or law that requires them to work a certain number of days to get paid. Since Mike Johnson took over these people hardly ever work. When they finally come back after weeks off they work 2 days and he sends them home for 2 more weeks. It’s ridiculous.
