2014 as a year felt like an odd societal pause.
2014 as a year felt like an odd societal pause.
For some odd reason, I've had Red Band Society on my brain even though I maybe watched 10 minutes of one episode and know of it more from an obnoxious group named after it on a now-defunct app.
Isn't Don Sutton a valid answer for like 7 of these squares?
Immaculate Grid doers, this seems like a troll job of a Grid, right?
My then-job gave me this day off in advance of an exploratory trip BOS-RDU to make me use vacation time and seeing this happen in real time was wild.
The total vibe shift leaving Logan the morning on 3/12 and returning on 3/14 was wild.
I had an exploratory trip BOS-RDU from 3/12-3/14.
Logan on 3/12 was a zoo at 5:00 AM for the early morning departures and red eye arrivals.
Logan at 7:00 PM on 3/14 was a ghost town.
"The [North Carolina] GOP did not get their marching orders from voters. Recall that voters rejected a constitutional amendment taking away the governor's appointment powers in 2018."
- Blocker how dare I reskeet a skeet those should see?
The same voters from 2010 and 2022? #NCpol
A Poughkeepsie-based influencer who had been in NYC for years called Poughkeepsie "the boring suburbs" because she can't find clothes for a man-sized tween.
Go east of the Taconic, preferably north of 55 if not 44, and we'll talk. You'd lose your mind in, say, Pine Plains.
I don't disagree at all and may feel a twinge of sadness for his birther. She'd have been better off with cats.
I can hear Billy Vera going on about answers just hearing this.
Not even his mom?
I will always link this ad to my trip to Belgium, watching West Coast games as the sun rose over Brussels and Noon ET matinee after dinner.
I liked this song. I also liked the Jakovasaurs on South Park and Buff Bagwell was my favorite wrestler in the nWo so you see my tolerance level.
So letting her replacement fall on the sword and letting the position fall into Republican hands was the best outcome?
This is Meg Scott Phipps all over again. Incumbent gets in trouble, replacement is the fall guy, egotistical Republican wins and becomes unbeatable.
This came up in conversation with someone this past weekend:
Am I the only person who has noticed that 2014, and only 2014, seems to have been a mini-baby boom? And might that have been because it was that sweet spot post-recession but pre-MAGA?
Or is this just me?
I really, really need to make a spinoff feed for #NCpol stuff and Bluesky really needs polls.
As much as Beth Wood was a DINO who used the NC Dems, would a 5th term of her be better than the status quo even if it meant, say, Steve Troxler in charge of North Carolina elections?
And outside of that incident when outside of once every four years did anyone think of the Auditor?
I'm of the fringe belief that if she stayed/Holmes won that they would've given the SBOE to any R on the Council of State but those who dared say that were called hysterical.
Today I, who lived in Maryland in 2008, learned...
So she hung around a party she didn't like out of inertia then bailed once they pushed her out after growing a spine. Or she, like others, just hates empowered young people taking charge over controlled pushovers.
How is it that this guy was a Democrat until 2023? Or that Beth Wood over 3.5 terms as Auditor was less visible? Or that Beth Wood endorsed him over her replacement?
I think there's some Republican kompromat here even though I buy that they'd have done this with any Council of State member.
A party chair picked over someone younger and more dynamic who seems to be in over is his head and has it out for youth. Where have I seen this before?
Oh yes, North Carolina in the early 2020s. It's like America is South Park and NC is The Simpsons who already did it. #NCpol
Between Martin and Tim Walz just collapsing post-Kamala, the implosion of the Minnesota DFL over the last year from being a model party to being a dumpster fire needs to be studied. Was Minnesota perhaps a mirage?
Until further notice, Moe Davis should be referred as wither "Moe-liek Davis" or "Dave Moe-liek" or "Davis Moe-liek" because the vibes have him going R as the party left him by.
What Democrat would do a post like this? #NCPol
That Moe lost to an edgelord nutjob and dared run again speaks a ton. Another byproduct of the 2010s malaise period of the NC Democrats which didn't really end until 2023 or so.
Seriously, he'd fit in with the NC GOP. His vibes fit there especially after he bashed Anderson Clayton.
Whenever I see him, I think of Tricia Cotham and Dave Boliek. Both lifelong Democrats who had *something* in the 2020s break, switched sides, and ended up leveling up because institutional memory and North Carolina politics are mortal enemies.
I like your comparison here. I still think that Moe Davis is a DINO in cahoots with the NC GOP and that he'll switch sides to have some sort of career.
This post attacking NC Dems chair Anderson Clayton uses a unflattering picture that right wingers on Xitter also used.
It's intetesting to see how much #NCpol punditry has either stuck around on Xitter or is solely on Threads. This could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how one looks at it. #NorthCarolina.
A retired J.A.G. lawyer who lost to Madison freaking Cawthorn then got convinced by the NC Dems to not run for NC-11 this year. Now he hates young people.
Prediction: Moe Davis is the next Tricia Cotham or Dave Boliek who will become a Republican and the NCGOP will bend things for. Book it. #NCpol
Air Force vet and former J.A.G. attorney who lost the NC-11 election to Madison Cawthorn in 2020, then tried to run again for the Democratic nomination for NC-11 this year until the NCDP allegedly told him not to.
I will put money down on him going full Cotham/Boilek and switching to R by '28.
If you saw it coming, where were the outright fearmongering ads or the shelved reaction ad to "Kamala is for They/Them?"
I understand you want to so the Shadow President thing the dementia patient did, but read a room for once. You rug pulled American Democraxy, ma'am.
That a foreign affairs concern outweighed material domestic concerns for many is the clear sign of a sick nation.
I consider myself an anti-Republican before a Democrat for a reason. The key to winning is to treat Republicans the way Republicans treat them. But Democrats would rather simp for mere Republican acknowledgement if not acceptance rather than see them as an ememy.
I think she wants to sow discord by having everyone look backwards and have America never get closure for 2024. If she told us so, she sure fumbled the bag in terms of communicating it to us.
