Hello my friends. I’m going to try and eek myself back into this lovely world of lovely people on social media. I’ve been to some very dark places. But I had such a good time in the ‘old’ days on Twitter. I miss it. Hoping everybody is well. Ian

Oh gosh. Not been on social media in ages. But that’s a lovely pic and a kind reference from my old pal Stiles. Please find attached a fine beast from Yorkshire in 2025. Ian
Damn I’ve not posted in an age, but I’m sure I’ve just heard the mating call of an oyster catcher in upper Airedale. Seems early. spring coming? I’m so excited at the prospect of the spring bird mating season. My most favourite time of the natural year. Clip not mine!. m.youtube.com/watch?v=g6D3...
"The minister claims her decision is based on a ‘full view of the facts’, but the evidence seems to have come exclusively from National Highways which has a proven track record for exaggerating risk, misrepresenting condition evidence and (wasting) public funds."

Sorry you are not well old friend. Get well soon.
Ian
What a glorious spring and summer this year.
Sadly I've only seen it out of my study window due to health issues.
So pics from the glorious spring and summer of 2018, on Kinder's northern edge.

I can’t ‘like’ this tweet, but it is so perfectly describing the reality of cars v any other road user. Cars do not own the kings highway. There is an order of precedence - and cars/vans/wagons come last.
We are so close to the Tory party accusing the Bayeux Tapestry of glorifying small boats crossing the Channel.
A new study of vehicular crashes in the UK shows that—after accounting for driver characteristics, road conditions, & more—adult pedestrians & cyclists had a 14% higher fatality rate when hit by an SUV rather than a regular car.
Children had a shocking 77% higher fatality rate when hit by SUVs.
Some excellent news: the Mountain Bothies Association and Ben Alder Estate have announced that Culra bothy in the Central Highlands is to be replaced.

At @fightingdirty.bsky.social, we sued over this issue, and lost on the grounds that the Environment Agency couldn't be in breach because the government had issued no direction. An absurdity, which means that poisons continue to be spread on farmland every day. 🧵

This painting is in memory of Simon, a member of the team at Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel in Embleton.
Normally, it would sell for £400. To raise money for Bowel Cancer UK, we are selling for £250

The brilliant @4dayweek.bsky.social's next National Four-Day Week Pilot is starting this autumn and applications are now open.
I encourage anyone who can in Brighton to give it a go, it could be brain-altering!

This really is not getting the attention it should. The Tories' latest proposal is to exclude *any household that includes any foreign national from any benefit*.
And when asked about it, they keep citing small boat crossings - a minute fraction of migration - to justify it. ~AA
In 1938 there was a Yorkshire Authors Dinner. Chaired by J.B. Priestley, 113 Yorkshire writers met at the Great Northern Hotel in Leeds. White roses, heather and bracken adorned the top table and a vast Yorkshire pudding was brought in to the singing of “Ilkla Moor Baht ‘At”.
I want to ‘not like’ but acknowledge this tweet in the negative. BlueSky needs to give us that option.
Totally understood Agnes. It must be a very difficult &uncertain time for so many in the US at the moment. It makes Brexit look like a minor altercation. I can’t help thinking that the tragedy in Texas could have been so less damaging had the Musk/Doge cuts had not occurred. I dunno if I’m right.
Popping up out of the clag.
Interesting.
Hands up for No 003!
