Everyday I hear from our community that the cost of living is too high, and rising housing costs are a big reason why. I’m proud to have convened housing leaders and elected officials from #OH13 to discuss how we can make meaningful progress towards affordable housing for everyone in our community.

Black history is American history, and leaving any part out makes our story incomplete. Students at Kent State University understood this. Their advocacy is the reason we celebrate a whole month of Black History Month.

Alongside her political achievements, Archer fought against racism with real estate by purchasing a house in a segregated neighborhood and becoming a licensed real estate agent herself.
Esther Archer made history as the first Black woman elected to a municipal office in the State of Ohio. She served her first term on Canton City Council in 1947, setting a strong example for minority representation in state politics.
