Spot the Dipper! On my 3rd attempt, I caught up with the Black Bellied Dipper at Bintree Mill this afternoon. A Norfolk tick for me and a very satisfying bird to see!

Thoroughly enjoyable day on the snowy Suffolk coast! Highlights were Temminck's Stint, Spotted Redshank, Bittern, Goosander, Zitting Cisticola, and Snow Buntings. Many snowball fights with @noahbai-123.bsky.social throughout the day, too!

Fantastic day out in Norfolk with @tsbirding.bsky.social and @brodiebirder.bsky.social. Highlights were the Black-winged Kite, Eastern Black Redstart, Bean Goose, Hen Harrier, White-fronted Geese, Snow Bunt, Crane, Tawny Owl and more!
Happy New Year! A bit of a local day today. Black Winged Kite first thing, followed by dipping everything bar Eider on Filby Broad. Loads of Crane throughout the day and both wild swans. Finished at the Black Winged Kite again and had unreal views of it before going to roost!
After yesterday's dip, I was grateful that the Black Winged Kite was still present today and had some good views of it at St Benets Abbey this morning.
Had a very successful day in Suffolk today with @david-walsh.bsky.social. Water Pipit at Minsmere, then followed by this drake Smew at Carlton Marshes. 4 years on from when I first met David at Minsmere. Finished off at Kessingland with 100+ Snow Buntings and a Jack Snipe.
Home from a good day out catching up with @tsbirding.bsky.social & his mum. Started at Minsmere as planned, then tootled to Carlton Marshes to enjoy the βwhite nunβ drake Smew which enjoyed spending time under water. First Iβve seen in Suffolk since I first bumped into Toby at Mins four winters ago!
Was pleased to connect with the Eastern Black Redstart today in Sheringham and had super views of it feeding along the seawall.
I have enjoyed some local birding recently. Yesterday, I went down to Barton Broad and was pleased to see this Slavonian Grebe well. Also, up to 20 Goldeneye.
Brilliant day in Cambridgeshire yesterday with lots of friends. Highlights were Tawny Owl, 6 Crane, Whooper and Bewick's Swans, 5 Caspian Gulls, 2 Black Redstarts, Barn Owl, 2 Hen Harriers but the stand out highlight had to be this Long Eared Owl!
Here are some more of my birding highlights during 2024!!
Scops Owl
Myrtle Warbler
As 2024 finishes off , I would like to look back at the birds I had this year. I saw lots of brilliant birds and made fantastic memories! Here are my birds of the year, the recent Scops Owl at Broadstairs, Kent, and the Myrtle Warbler in Kilwinning, Ayrshire, back in the spring.

American Yellow Warbler Thanks to Noah for the photo!
The thought of a 2 mega day is absurd, but it actually happening is indescribable!!! Brilliant views of the American Yellow Warbler at New Hythe at lunchtime! We then carried on to Broadstairs in the twilight to watch the awesome Scops Owl with @noahbai-123.bsky.social!!!
Glaucous Gull
After plenty of Norfolk dips, I was very pleased to connect with this juvenile Glaucous Gull at Old Hunstanton yesterday afternoon. A long-awaited Norfolk tick!
Joined Bluesky this morning. I hope it goes well! Here's a photo of the Red Eyed Vireo at Durlston CP, Devon a few weeks ago
