Yeah a bit of exaggeration on my part there but lots of key improvements for me, midfield especially, Alvarez and Guido covering way less space and looking imo much better for it. Hard to do anything with a depleted squad like this
We’re missing several key players and it was our third game in 8 days, the manager has been working for 9 days. I think it’s a bit much to expect a full revolution in that time, and personally think I’ve already seen big improvements
Read a lot of rubbish about Mavropanos. Too many mistakes but handles the physical side of the game well and can be a real + in build-up if a bit of risk-taking is required. No doubt not performing at his best level right now but a valuable CB in 3-box-3 world and low-block-and-counter land.
Pretty promising first game after one training session. Lots of positives! Really fell apart when Fullkrug came off then doubled down without Summerville heroics. Paq much improved and nice to see scarles play
Really leaning into potters work transforming Brighton after Hughton for optimism. The exact same thing I was doing for Pellegrini and his time at Malaga mind. Also a good record at Swansea - more proven in English leagues at least and a pick I would have prefers at the start of the year
Kudus could react well? His underlying an aren’t much different to last year & now without Bowen in his best role + new manager bounce I’m think he could be a good pick at his price. Will see what happened in the cup & vs Fulham though
Yeah but if he made fewer mistakes he wouldn’t be with us - eg about as many mistakes as Kehrer, difference between the two is Mav is a big guy who wins physical duals.

Recruitment has been horrid for years and it’s reflected in a bizarre playing squad where nothing fits together - but I see weaknesses exaggerated instead of protected. Players can’t be happy

Yeah I absolutely do not think lopetegui is getting the best out of these players, but it’s such a confused playing staff. I don’t know what the best team and tactic is for them (and don’t think anyone does) - board and technical director not setting a good direction for us

Yeah I mean late on David Moyes where we had knee less zouma and aguerd as cbs was awful, we shipped goals but in very different ways. Didn’t do all this high line lark
I’ve not seen the whole game granted but I just can’t see how this is a bad performance. Bad result yes but this isn’t too much like the first 10 games of the season where we were simply bad.

We absolutely do not deserve to be losing this game and up until the last couple mins this has been a pretty good performance
Bowen was so, so good last game. Played with purpose, calm on the ball - did a lot of things I didn’t think would come naturally to him in the transition of styles. Our best player by a long way
