i’m taking on a new personal project this month. i’ve just collected a large collection of 35mm film negatives of black american life in the 1970s and 1980s and am going to begin digitizing them into an archive of their own.
i’ll write about my progress here.
I spoke to Akiva Schaffer about directing THE NAKED GUN. Topics include: getting the BEVERLY HILLS COP II-esque look right, focus testing comedies, and using SUPERMAN’s stunt coordinator for a key scene. Good talk. Check it out! filmmakermagazine.com/131443-inter...
My favourite one like this is Don Henley getting Brian to autograph a copy of Pet Sounds. Brian signed it "thanks for all the great music" then thought for a second, crossed out "great", and wrote "good"
Threw this up on IG in case y'all not over there

I even have a good, specific angle in on Why Wiseman Matters More Now Than Ever.
Doing an intro post on here/sharing work I've done from this year.
Outside of spending too much time online, I'm also a freelance writer and film programmer. I have a Substack where I track distribution statuses of titles at major festivals + do reviews and interviews acquiredcinema.substack.com
It's not satire but investing any amount of time in pathologizing Oscar voters is chasing windmills
