"it's so interesting how there's this rich tapestry of people's intersecting lives shaped by just their minute interactions with each other," says woman terrified at the thought of having any sort of effect on anyone else

I donโt know what to put here and that makes me anxious ๐ BOS, housing, transit, misc. fixations ๐ โโ๏ธ โFramingham Line Train 509 is operating 15-25 minutes late between South Station and Framinghamโ

I have to restrict my usage of Nextdoor because people are infuriating. Every removal of a lane or parking spot is seen as an affront to all elderly or disabled people. They can only conceive of these classes of people as entirely car dependent. Fuck blind people (and many others), I guess ๐
โI am responsible for myselfโ
I had a funny interaction a few nights ago where a fancy sports car stopped for me. Their headlights were off and I made the twist gesture of turning them on. I was amused that they did actually turn them on, and did not get upset with me. Yes I did profile the sports car owner as being rude.
Or not even looking. Somehow I can tell the difference between โI didnโt see youโ and โIโm pretending youโre not thereโ.
What are some good alternatives? I wanted to get some people in my neighborhood together to petition the city for a safe crossing. Thereโs a 1/4 mile stretch with no crosswalk. Cars rarely stop at the actual crosswalk because wide road = fast. With the bend in the road, I thought lights would help.
I wear big hats and clothes with UPF. I hate also the STAINS that sunscreen creates.

HOT TAKE:
Contemporary US protest signs (including the cringe ones) play a crucial role in re-inscribing internet culture back into corporeal everyday life. Seeing online jokes handwritten onto cardboard signs is awkward, sure, but it's also a form of reality-testing or reality-reassurance.
I need to get a New England flag
I wonder what the best way to counter his claims is. Wu may not want to bring up that housing approved several years ago has not been built because that could speak negatively toward her tenure as mayor. And โconstruction is too expensive nowโ might be seen as a lame excuse from her.
Similar to the authz/authn split, thereโs a distinction between justification (God says you good even though youโre still a sinner) and sanctification (God actually makes you good)
Not looking forward to incessant news and social media content explaining how a papal conclave works. Just a pet peeve of mine. They need to make a Schoolhouse Rock-style video to explain it and each news station can broadcast that.
Do not let this man near anything fragile. He will destroy it.
Sorry, at a family gathering so I canโt do alt text at the moment. Just a preview for you and I may try to rework this to be better for Bluesky, as itโs extremely long.
If youโre interested I could share some of my silly math on his housing policy, which I already posted on my local FB group. In short: landlord gets paid extra to have unaffordable rents. And this is funded by a misguided idea that the IDP % is the main reason housing isnโt being built.
Iโm imagining the requirements for this con for women to be โyou must be this pregnant to enterโ
I canโt believe itโs been so long. I was visiting the Holocaust memorial museum. Security guards suddenly ushered everyone out without saying why. We drove back to our hotel and heard about it on the radio. I think the museum thought an abandoned backpack was another bomb.
Bukele doesn't "have something" on Trump.
Trump isn't afraid to fight for Garcia's return. He doesn't want him returned.
Trump and Bukele are engaged in a mutually-beneficial authoritarian partnership designed to profit off the destruction of legal protections. That's it. It isn't that hard.
80+% of both Democrats and Republicans believe America would be better off if more Americans worked in manufacturing, but < 30% say that about themselves.
The bipartisan belief that America would be a better place if *other people* worked in a factory.

Whatโs troubling is that Josh Kraft is knowingly playing Trumpโs game, almost as if theyโre in sync.
Kraft knows Wuโs record (record lows, provable). Yet he claims he can do better, painting a dark city, tapping into fears. The Wu admin can always improve, but is the picture Kraft paints fair?
A clarification: whoever is running the account is posting about Easter a week early because today is Palm Sunday and Holy Week, which does last the whole week
I was thinking I hadnโt seen you on there for a bit! Crazy how youโre suspended but the woman talking about โwe shouldnโt reduce CO2 emissions because plants need CO2, green energy is a conspiracyโ is fine.
A screenshot of an except of a thread from Nextdoor. Names are redacted. The first message reads, โbut why do we need to overcrowd every space - the more they build the more crowded theyโve become - most of these โaffordableโ buildings are not housing Cambridge residentsโ. A reply to this first comment reads, โdo people not become residents of Cambridge by living in these buildings located in Cambridge?โ
Nextdoor is a frustrating place full of NIMBYs. I suppose itโs good to get out of the echo chamber and recognize that my views are still not that popular.
Organizing is very alien to my subpar brain. It feels like a faux pas to kick things off with broad issues. And yet it feels dishonest to organize people around something small like getting a better crosswalk because I am a nerd and have already seen the plans for the new crosswalk.
They wonโt stop fighting each other, narcissism of small differences. I look at a lot of academic religious content on YouTube and thereโs always Christians calling each other apostates or heretics or idolators.
Sure you can toss in this quote from NKJV
