Creu Lle i Arloesedd
Rydym yn croesawu arbrofi a chymryd risgiau creadigol, ac yn cefnogi artistiaid sy’n herio beth allai opera fod heddiw. Rydym wastad yn chwilio am ffyrdd newydd i rhannu straeon.
We welcome experimentation, take creative risks, and support artists who challenge what opera can be. We are always looking for new ways to tell stories. While we respect opera’s roots, we are excited by bold ideas, new voices, and creative formats that push the art form forward.
Baritone Themba Mvula stands on a round platform, which is covered in brown dirt with small beige pebbles. There are items including a ruler, a notebook and some marbles scattered around his feet. Themba is a tall, slim, Zambian born man with short, tightly curled hair. He wears beige khaki trousers, a yellow tshirt with intricate embroidery in red and blue around the neckline. Over this, he wears a dark blue robe with a pattern of white semi circles. His feet are bare. His arms are outstretched at his sides and his mouth is wide open. The background is black bar one stage light which shines to the left of the image. At the top of the image, the Arts Council Wales logos are displayed. At the bottom of the image, the Opera'r Ddraig logo is displayed. The logo is a bright, almost neon-green, and the font is bold, with a hand-printed, rough texture to it. The word 'Opera'r' sits stacked directly above the word 'Ddraig'.

A young woman frowns, tears in her eyes, and holds her left hand to her forehead. Her right hand dropped gracefully at her side. She is slim, caucasian, with long, brown hair styled in polished, large, lose barrel curls. She wears a cream, corseted dress with a light pink floral pattern on it. There is a strip of coral pink fabric down the middle of the skirt of the dress. The sleeves are elbow length and finished with a loose peplum frill. Behind the woman, there is a group of women (slightly blurred), also wearing corseted dresses. Unlike the woman at the front of the image, their hair is dishevelled, their skirts hiked high, makeup smeared on their smiling faces.
Supporting New Talent
We support emerging artists and creatives by offering meaningful opportunities to grow, learn, and lead the future of opera through mentorship and education.
Hygyrchedd Yn Gyntaf
Credwn y dylai opera fod ar gyfer pawb. Rydym wedi ymrwymo i'w gwneud yn hygyrch i artistiaid a chynulleidfaoedd, gan geisio diddymu unrhyw rhwystrau a gan greu lleoliadau sydd yn gwneud i bobl deimlo ei bod wedi’u cynrychioli, wedi’u cynnwys ac wedi’w croesawu.
A singer holds up a champagne flute, arms spread wide. She is slim, caucasian, with brown hair cut into a short pixie cut. She wears a dark grey, strapless, glittery gown and a small white veil, adorned with thin white feathers, that just covers her eyes. A spotlight shines down on her, highlighting her whilst the rest of the space is black, with shadows of other singers around her. At the top of the image, the Arts Council Wales logos are displayed. At the bottom of the image, the Opera'r Ddraig logo is displayed. The logo is a bright, almost neon-green, and the font is bold, with a hand-printed, rough texture to it. Accessibility First
We believe opera should be for everyone. We are committed to making it accessible for both artists and audiences and aim to break down barriers and create spaces that make people feel welcome, represented, and included.
