I heard someone at a coffee shop say that the IP address was Taso’s house!?! Big if true!

I would recommend reading Blazing Eye Sees All by @leahsottile.bsky.social
The focus is on New Age spirituality but I think the history and reasoning behind how we got here for New Age influencers is shared for many of the topics you mention.

How can we be sure this isn’t a scam by Big Owl to benefit the owl industry 🤣
It's not brain rot until he becomes Newsome. This is still constructive discourse at this point.
Thanks to Calvin for helping me trick others into thinking I knew what I was doing. Have a great retirement!
I always kind of joked with people that I had too much time on my hands and/or wanted to learn something that wasn't sitting at a keyboard.
The real answer was I watched a lot of Park Tool videos, went to the garage confidently, failed, then fumbled through rewinding the video with greasy hands.
I ran some fairly successful bike repair events in my local community for a few years. I scaled those back and don't really do them anymore (different topic/story) but I was asked a number of times something like "How did you learn to fix bikes so well?" or "Are you a professional mechanic?"
Apple Park is very walkable
I got it after turning 40 and it was miserable. Didn't even think of getting the vaccine before I qualified. I should look into this!
Stop illegally bringing me that food I ordered!
1985 anti-growth public commenters put much more effort into their craft. I love this one that is structured as a mini-screenplay. Art in the service of the public.
Let's apply this same scaling to parking fees next!
Interesting! Was the greatest challenge they're facing how to keep providing abundant free parking?
It's disappointing that the CA’s e-bike voucher program is getting cut with the funds being diverted to EVs
Data from the Denver program says e-bikes = huge value:
• 40% cheaper/mile than EVs, ~75% cheaper than ICE cars
• Operational emissions ~3% of EVs; ~1% of ICE cars
This person is not super engaged if they’re not aware of the project that has been in progress since 2024 at this intersection.
I think they may have other concerns they just aren’t sharing 🤔

Do both! Pedestrians can have a narrowed crosswalk AND an overpass. Cross safely to your hearts content.
I'm amazed these walkable shapes even exist! I wish our local school district had this type of data available. Love your analysis as well! I'm curious if I could apply the rules that are being discussed throughout to some of our local schools and cook something similar up.
Trailers are so much more useful than a pickup truck too. Pickup beds aren't actually that big when you start moving big stuff.
Not sure how to replicate this but we have a neighbor with a trailer that is super generous. It's an even better solution to this problem!
The same holds true in a car-focused SF Bay Area suburb. If safe alternatives existed people would flock to them!

The reporting in local media never mentions these facts which makes me yell at my computer more than I’d like to admit.
Whenever I do this digging in San Mateo/Burlingame the answer is almost always that the building sold in the past few years and the property taxes were raised for the first time in decades. Café Capuchino and B St books are two recent examples.
If you're looking for a map/stats like this we have a process @parkingreform.org to get there. Happy to try these tools out within that process. Requires some digging into zoning and then mapping parking lots (which this tool appears to help automate).
Happy to help connect dots here. Come join the fun in the @parkingreform.org Slack and lets get more cities added to parkingreform.org/resources/pa...
Find me on PRN Slack or here and let me know!
The one on the right is actually a bike lane. After building it to this point they didn't count enough traffic across it to justify finishing it off.
Don't know enough about Portland to fully relate but the general "two <insert place>" aspect of the news resonates. Feels like we are constantly listening to people judging something that doesn't exist and then suggesting solutions to the problems they've "found". Appreciate your voice out there!
This should trigger Caltrain to be free. All net revenue should go to my Clipper card.
"His police chief said some of the [scooter] riders had been found to be carrying guns. The mayor wants them banned from sidewalks."
This is referring to banning guns on sidewalks, right?
Looks like the coffee shop closed in 2020 and has never re-opened. It definitely isn't too successful so I guess it's mission accomplished!
