Beautiful. And I can confirm, it works. I would have done my humanities degree all over again just for that reason. It did also end up leading to some pretty cool left field jobs, but that was/ is also arguably the result of the below.
Like yes, most of us can have our intentions/ manner misunderstood a lot of the time, but we are still 'people', as the full phrase goes. People can do bad things, no matter their underlying neurology. So it's not necessarily either/ or, but also not a defence/ even an explanation in many cases.
I think personally he can be autistic *and* a rapist; and one is not necessarily related to the other. Bad/selfish autistic people exist. Using it as a *defence* is absolutely infantalising tho. Similar as in the case of Gregg Wallace (he's got a diagnosed autistic child, so more likely genetically)
the cost is (sometimes) worth it haha
You've still done it though π
I don't usally love modern architecture but even I have to admit this is quite lovely! Maybe something about the warm/ textured wood offsetting the more brutalist elements?
Theyβre well meaning on the whole and loving in their own way, justβ¦ a lot and really struggle to accept there are other social realities than the one they live in.
Scotland did it first! π I actually know people who co-led on that old consultation/ design, lovely agency and the banknotes look fab.
Even knowing all this, going back still messes me up for at least a week after I come back π
You know, like the whole thing of 'religion gives you a perfect moral code to follow' kind of coping mechanism with all the ambiguities of life.
I've moved abroad away from the family unit, started leaning a lot more left wing & don't really belive in God, so 'failing' on all fronts from their pov unfortunately π
For mine it was mostly retreating to the 'family unit as a castle against the unwelcoming/ cruel world' Conservative mentality tbh; a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy there since it's true in their circles. For my mum going back & very rigidly towards Catholicism (despite early life rebellion).
And by βcriticalβ I mean βincluding thoughtful context-rich critiqueβ rather than the common definition related to βcriticisingβ for those unfamiliar with that use of the term.
Yes, and Iβm sure they found plenty of βuser needsβ and βuser benefitsβ for those features! Such a good example that we often need to go further with critical UX than just the surface level.
Ha! I didnβt even think of that when reading your post, so glad I canβt imagine things I read π
Ohh Iβve heard of disability dongles before but Iβve never seen them framed as fairy tales, thatβs such a good metaphor for them!
Dasta company logotype in the corner with words βrequest mangerβ next to it. Message below reads: In order to access your request space, you will need a 6 digits authentication code βSend me the code by mailβ orange button below
It gets better! I got an automated email about a new message re: my request from that company, which seems to take me to *another* company (βrequest managerβ) who are also now asking me to confirm my email to read the message π€¦πΌββοΈ the whole point was to remove my email from lists, not add to another!
Allllmost feels like malicious compliance which doubles up as a deceptive pattern to make you give up since it took at least 5 minutes vs a few seconds clicking a link
Vestaire Collective logo in the order with the main message reading: Your request has been recorded Thank you, your request has been successfully registered. Our teams will process your request as soon as possible. You will receive email notifications to inform you of the follow-up of the request.
Apparently Iβll now get email notifications informing me of the status of my request to stop contacting me π«
Omg Iβve come across a company that rather than allow for a normal βunsubscribeβ flow on their emails, forces you to go through an entire GDPR request to stop them from contacting you π including having to receive an email verification code to βconfirm your identity & process your requestβ. WTF
lol same π
I know, like come on, if youβre going to argue openly at least have fun with it and do it yourself π
I had a think how that works in Polish and we call them βnotconnectedβ (niepoΕΔ czone vs poΕΔ czone) which does feel much more neutral in that it doesnβt imply if they were ever connected & then disconnected π just looks very wrong without a space in English.
Limited series are good for that, not many of them around but you know the story will be tight and not dragged out for ages until the writers run out of ideas!
Unless itβs just a really bad quality photo file, but then also justβ¦ why.
Is it maybe meant to be βtableβ? But also I wonder if itβs AI generated? I really donβt know why you would, but also I donβt know why youβd pick those colours yourself β plus the font looks weird/ blurry round the edges
Thankfully not in my circles, at least not yet π₯²
My partner has also experienced that in his old workplace! People arguing about whoβs right about a dev issue, each with their own sycophantic copy-pastes from an LLM, sometimes even still including prompts like βin what way is he wrong hereβ π¬
Not saying itβs not necessarily interesting/ potentially useful insights; Iβd just struggle to call them βuser centredβ (which arguably still requires to have real conversations with real users, at least in part)
