The bigger problem is that OpenAI especially into a lesser extent. Other llm companies still think the solution is hyperscaling even though we are clearly seeing diminishing returns on that. We are at exponential growth to create incremental progress and it'll only get worse.
They never will. The underlying mathematics that makes GPT systems function require that they have an error rate. Fixing that destroys their ability to function.
Even openai has admitted that hallucinations are fundamental and not a bug of the system. They aren't going away.
The problem is that a lot of the AI research that has been going on for decades is not llm or gpt based. It's actually a really wide field of study and the entire thing is getting nuked by openai and anthropic lying their asses off.

I could see simple drone barges to tow mines out depending on how big they are and how they deploy. We already know that drone warfare will collapse down to fiber optic cable from Ukraine to avoid jamming, and I feel like that would be *really* hard to police effectively.
