Regrettably, I let myself get pulled into the “is it a Christmas movie” debate tonight… I’m indifferent, for the record.
Baffled by the appeal of uninspired copaganda, though.

If children run drills in school,
if church’s plan for active shooters,
if people seek to avoid large crowds,
it is far from “unthinkable.”
Trin staying is unquestionably in the best interest of the NWSL.
…And maybe her leaving will create a firestorm in service of the league’s long term interests. I fear it will only cause damage, tbh.
Honesty, at this point I’m starting to root for Trin going—and Berman getting as burned as possible
Truly such a special place
The absurdity builds with every paragraph so much it reads like an Onion article… How can this be anything but trolling?!

PLEASE.
The one major holiday that happens to be non-religious, requires no clergy, a the most ideal opportunity to give priests a day at home…And this is the day to offer a service?!
Experienced this before too and will never understand.
Some quick highlights:

• And of course, Constitutional Peasants

A little peculiar to talk of kingship in this moment, and what an opportunity to really talk about this moment
One last sermon to prep this Sunday before parental leave begins:

I’m 250 paid subscribers away from a major goal. Think we can get there tonight? www.thehandbasket.co/upgrade
Which is where I’m honestly a little hung up…
As a Spirit fan, I 1000% want Trin re-signed. As a Trin fan, I want her to get the contract she deserves.
And as a jaded Midwesterner with a chip on my shoulders, I’m not so sure how the league threads the needle.
CLE can simply never match contract offers from NY, which drastically skews the competition. Granted, good teams in small markets often have far more grit and heart, generating and delivering unmatched pride in fans, but it’s for a fleeting moment. As soon as talent develops, vultures are ready.
And also…
Growing up a fan of a small market city (Cleveland), I absolutely seethed with resentment at top dollar teams.
On any given day: any star or local hero could be poached—by NY, Boston, LA…
re: NWSL salary cap
The league is growing exponentially, driven by the talent on the pitch.
Players deserve to get paid what they’re worth.
From the Washington 4 to Pauli Murray preaching in the pulpit, there are just so many reasons I’m proud of where I was sponsored for ordination:
Hooked on phonics ain’t workin for Ally.

I’m feeling it. We’ll see whether Gotham keeps it up for the second half
Spirit looking about as good as this NWSL+ camera work
how does this so effectively nail the inflection
FMN is great, in transition so maybe reshaping some things.
I offer free spiritual direction and am especially inclined toward activists. In DC and happy to connect/support/resource as helpful.
just what exactly is a “blue collar” soccer team supposed to mean… ?

catching up on emails
delay in email replies due to blatant neglect in light of pending rapture
significant delays due to backlog following anticipation of false rapture, or failed personal rapture
please accept my sincerest apologies
Clearly a pre-rapture mindset.
Seems the common contention is with singling out an individual in the congregation… I’ve never heard any take issue with a direct wedding homily though, nor a eulogy. Like those, this wasn’t a principle service—it was an *inauguration* service with the explicit purpose of singling out an individual
Here's what the third day of elementary school looked like in Mount Pleasant, Washington DC.
