Just another indie author trying to come out of her hard drive. Horror, psychological thriller, dark fantasy... I like them like my coffee: strong and black. No AI, all my mistakes are human-made. https://author.mhurban.com/

awesome soudtrack, too
#HorrorWritersChat Q2
I am fully aware that it's reductive as heck & doesn't help anybody but I'm a sucker for a good crazy girl locked in an asylum. Think Brittany Murphy in Don't Say a Word, Jolie in Girl Interrupted or the entire film Gothika with Halle Berry.
Thanks #HorrorWritersChat I don't have anything new to promo this week, so I'll just remind everyone that it's #WomenInHorrorMonth so maybe seek out a scary woman or three this March (suggestions all over my posts). bsky.app/profile/sama...

I am Vee, I write Eldritch horror and the horrors and evils of slavery (I feel I should start stating this now due to *certain* nasty views sadly making a comeback >.>), and Resident Evil. I haven't PLAYED any Resident Evil, but I love seeing Let's Plays of it
#HorrorWritersChat I'll keep fighting so I can have all the Reeses to myself.
Anyways, I am looking for more poets to join my #Poetry month bundle on itch.io.
Horror poetry, stories in verse, epic poems, and more are all welcome! It just has to do with poetry.

You slash at the heads - that way at least the monster is little more than a blundering mass of viscera, with nothing human left. But each exposed knob of vertebra in each severed neck instantly extends towards you, prodding blindly, like young stems pushing up from fresh earth. #HorrorWritersChat
Ow, that stings! I blink furiously, trying to clear the blood from my eyes. Wait, who gave me an axe? My arms shake, struggling to hold it upright. The beast glares down at me. I don't think another swing is going to fix this.
#HorrorWritersChat
#HorrorWritersChat
I swing my axe. Blood splashes into my eyes. I should be more careful. I try again, this time motherβs head comes off cleanly. Thereβs no splashing. At least, none in my eyes. I can see now how Iβm going to fit all of her body parts in the cupboard under the stairs. Neat.
Q4: #HorrorWritersChat
βAHHHH! THESE BUGS BLEED ACID? IβM MELTING! Melting! Oh, what a world! What a world! Who would have thought a good little Gree like you could destroy my beautiful wickedness! Ohhh! Look out! Look out! I'm going! Ohhhh - Ohhhhhhhhhh!β
I recognize the eyes and limbs as those I loved, reanimated by whatever evil made this thing. I've run my whole life, from everything, including the sea green iris's rolling around on the left of this beast. So, I swing until it drops. I take the eyes back. I'll never run again.
#HorrorWritersChat
The Xenomorph, hands down. My mileage with the Alien movies is better than most. I tend to like the ones that others don't and like less the ones that others enjoy, but the design and world-building around them is glorious.
I think the Scorpion Mother in DEEP DOWN is my version.

#HorrorWritersChat Q4:
But that stinging only contributes to the growing blood haze.
Another swing, another infernal head crushed beneath the dull blade.
They used to be human... I used to be-
I swing again, tainted blood flecks into my mouth.
It tastes familiar. Something I forgot. Like home.
I swing my axe. Blood splatters into my eyes. The abomination screams, a blood-curdling howl, and tries to grab me with deadly claws. I try to pull off the axe from the body... but it is stuck. Another howl echoes down the hallway, and the monster begins to laugh.
I am lost.
#HorrorWritersChat
I gotta go with Cthulhu here. Such an iconic design, and the foundation for my love of unfathomable entities. π
In my Synaptic Sprawl mythos, my Lovecraftian gods are known as "The Exiled Ones," and they absolutely take inspiration from other cosmic horror creatures.

Any monster can be an action horror monster, so long as it raises its fist/claw/hoof for an attack.
If I had to choose (tough choice), strange fauna would be mine. I've used giant crawlies, birds of all feathers, and the deer and the antelope in such ways...

I can pick only one? π«£ I like aliens, vampires, the Old Ones, unusual folkloric creatures like Red Caps and the Rusalka, werewolves, zombies, deceased family/friends who haunt you in an evil manner - completely unlike when they were alive. There are many more.

Action horror monsters don't generally inhabit my worlds, as I write in present/near future settings, don't normally work w/ cryptids/monsters. However, I do love me a good egregore/tulpa, I find occult energies alluring, and supernatural or paranormal entities are faves.
