Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of ADL, tweet:

We've said it hundreds of times before and we will say it again: the Holocaust was a singularly evil event, and it is inappropriate and offensive to make light of it.

@elonmusk, the Holocaust is not a joke.

With embedded Musk tweet:
Don’t say Hess to Nazi accusations!

Some people will Goebbels anything down!

Stop Gőring your enemies!

His pronouns would’ve been He/Himmler!

Bet you did nazi that coming 😂

I stitched them together manually because the Greenblatt tweet screenshot only included part of the embedded Musk tweet.

Here I am, a factory worker enjoying his lunch in the North End of Boston on January 15, 1919. I’ve survived the influenza pandemic, I’m feeling good about life, and I’ve never been more confident I will not be swallowed up by a flood of liquid sugarcane extract

Trump Pauses Disbursements to Program Supplying H.I.V. Treatment Worldwide (Gift Article) Pepfar, which is estimated to have delivered lifesaving treatment as many as 25 million people in 54 countries, faces a funding delay of as long as 180 days.

"Any prolonged pause in funding could disrupt HIV treatment programs, leading to treatment interruptions, rise of drug-resistant HIV. That’s playing with fire, risking progress that we’ve made over decades to control the HIV epidemic”

People will talk about generative AI art the way we talk about tamagotchis. It will look so dated and immediately recognizable as an artifact of the early 2020s. Kind of embarrassing: people actually LIKED this stuff?

Black and white photo of a medium haired white cat riding up on its haunches, it’s forepaws slightly blurred with motion as of reaching for something out of frame above its head. It is outside on a lawn, the crunchy dark texture of the grass and hedges contrasting nicely with the light smoothness of its fur. Emerging from the lawn below it are patches of light as if something spectral is emerging from the earth (I believe this is because the film was accidentally exposed to additional light either within the camera or at some point during processing).

I love this photo. I love the cat’s position and expression, I love the textures, I love the ethereal light leaks. From my collection, no info known.

If we let them, they will devalue human life to the point that the majority of us will be “disposable”. Fuck AI, fuck the idea that you can just decimate another culture, fuck the callousness of the elite class in late stage capitalism.

During the worst of the pandemic, I was hopeful the U.S. would finally get guaranteed paid sick leave, something every other wealthy country has. Given the ways we’re currently regressing, and the makeup of SCOTUS, it’s hard to imagine any other progressive thing like that happening in my lifetime.

The goal of misogyny is to reduce women *only* to gendered roles, actions, and meanings. Any pretensions to humanity in women, or any expressions of interiority—like, say, a love of music—must be stamped out and replaced with something pertaining to sex or childbearing.

The degradation of internet spaces seems to me to mirror the degradation of IRL infrastructure: a rush to build things, often quickly and cheaply, and then no interest in upkeep once the thing is built. As with roads, rails, buildings, so too with social networks, search engines, and websites.

the A/I bros dream of a "deeply personalised content" is really telling, cause it only cares about what me-as-a-customer wants
they don't see art as sharing and discovering human experiences, it's all about being fed a content without leaving the comfort of your tiny self

Reduce, reuse, redirect outrage: How plastic makers used recycling as a fig leaf Recycling "does not solve the solid waste problem," the head of a plastics trade group said in 1989, around the time the industry was launching its recycling campaign.

One of the biggest challenges is that making new plastic is relatively cheap. But recycling generally costs as much as or more than the material is worth, a director of environmental solutions at B.F. Goodrich explained at another industry meeting in 1992.
