I'm calling for a complete and total shutdown of 25-day below normal streaks, until we can figure out what the Hell is going on in PANC.

Not quite sure what to call this: it doesn't seem like a true banner cloud that's anchored to the Brooks Range, but rather some sort of standing wave just downwind of that terrain. @alaskawx.bsky.social @alaskagina.bsky.social @climatologist49.bsky.social any thoughts? #AKwx

Unfortunately, this, like so much of what's going on in the country right now, is a problem that could be solved if JD Vance would simply stay the fuck out of Wisconsin.

True Color RGB images from @noaa.gov #GOESEast showed aircraft "glaciation trails" drifting across southern Lake Michigan -- caused by exhaust particles from jet engines that acted as efficient ice nuclei, causing ice crystals to grow larger and fall from the cloud layer.
