The thing about the SH2 remake is that it’s almost an entirely different experience to the original game. I would still very much play the original, while the remake is a fresh but different take on the old story. Delta feels like they tried to do a shot-for-shot recreation and yet it feels sub-par

One of my coworkers, @tearsofjake.bsky.social, has a talk at SIGGRAPH this year about this really cool steerable perlin noise technique that was used on Moana 2. He's just posted some handy reference implementations for Houdini, Unity, Godot, and Blender; check it out!

❔How to compute bounding volumes for procedural Signed Distance Fields (SDFs)? This is not so trivial!
💡We propose a simple method called Sphere Carving. It extracts (convex) bounding volumes around SDFs, requires very few evaluations, and is GPU compatible.
It's time to share the program for the 2025 Advances in Real-time Rendering in Games.
Check out all the details here: advances.realtimerendering.com/s2025/index....
and, of course, come attend the course live on Tuesday August 12 at SIGGRAPH in Vancouver!
