Graptoveria 'Lovely Rose' looking suitably lovely 🙂

My Frizzle Zizzle (Albuca spiralis) has woken up from its summer sleep, after putting it outside in the rain a couple of days ago. I removed its dead leaves and flower stalks.

This is all very well if you live in heat and from time to time heavy rain. Not much good if your extreme weather is wet and sometimes frosty winters though.

Two aeonium rosettes on the same stalk. One is pink, fading to cream in the centre, with a green mid-stripe on the leaves. The other is green with a pink mid-stripe on the older leaves or a cream stripe on the newer ones. The green one must be a reversion.

Aeonium 'Pink Witch' with a presumably reverted rosette on the same stalk. I rather like it like that but the reversion is going to be dominant. I’ll chop and prop it in the autumn.

A pot of multiple, candy pink, with a lilac tinge, rosettes with fat, roundish leaves that have a small point at the tip.

The hot, sunny weather has been bringing out the colours. I think this is a very plump version of Graptoveria 'Debbi' but can’t be sure. I rescued it about 30 years ago from the abandoned greenhouse of my great aunt after she died.

The sculpture side on. The body, which is made from the too ends of two liquid gas canisters has a panel of trianguler pieces of steel in the middle section, welded together but leaving spaces. Our seal point cat is curiously inspecting it.

Lots of small, white, star shaped flowers with five petals, at the tips of a reddish, small leaved sedum plant. The unopened buds surrounding the flowers have a reddish tint.

As far as I can gather, the place exists, but this is not a photo of it. The real photos of it on the web don’t look like this.

Have you aver seen such smooth, empty ground between plants in nature? The only thing this smooth is a mud pan, which cracks when dry and is certainly not the dry ground that this sort of plant grows in.

I suspect it’s AI.

Just coil them round in the top of a pot of nice gritty compost and leave them alone. They’ll root, then you can start giving them a little water.

Three small echeveria hybrids that have slightly pointed broad leaves with dark red edges and a purple grey tinge.

Three small cotyledon hybrids. One has long, parallel edged leaves, one has fat round leaves, and one has thinner round leaves with a slightly wavy edge. Like a lot of cotyledons they all have a thin red edge round each apple green leaf.

They appreciated last night’s rain. Grown from my own seeds. Echeveria and cotyledon hybrids selected by bumblebees 🙂

Large pink epiphyllum flowers that are darker on the outside petals compared to the pale pink inner ones.

Tiny, strange looking flowers crown this round shaped Euphorbia obesa. The euphorbia is darker green and slightly ribbed with lighter green markings.

My pink epiphyllum only has six flowers this year. It’s OK though because Euphorbia obesa is flowering to make up for it 😂

A mottled pattern of saharan dust on a glass tabletop in the garden.

A light coating of saharan dust on a glass tabletop, with two wiggly trails of slugs or snails crossing each other and concentrating the dust. This is probably due to the sticky mucus they leave behind.

The sky has been milky with saharan sand dust brought by a southerly air flow. Seen mostly on cars or glass tables outdoors. There has been a light shower in the night that moved it around, and the second photo is when a couple of snails or slugs passed in the night.

Hi, I have some to sow. What substrate do you sow them in? I have fine river sand or could sift some mixed pumice.

An epiphyllum plant with three big, red flowers that have white tipped stamens, and several unopened buds next to them.

A large, red, epiphyllum flower with many white tipped red stamens coming from a green centre. The inner petals form a cup shape around the stamens, while the outer petals are more pointed and open.

One of my epiphyllums has opened its first three flowers today.
