They didn't need to remove it fully though, they could have just nerfed it. The main balance issue is the extra tag damage from the new modifiers, so if they just made it so the tag damage from different whips didn't stack, they'd be in a similar point as before

They want it back because they think removing it made the gameplay less interesting. Anyone who thinks that whip stacking should be added specifically to make summoner more powerful obviously doesn't think that summoner is currently the strongest class in the game.

Who are you quoting? You're either doing a Goomba fallacy or just strawmanning. No one who is saying that summoner is the strongest class in the game is also saying that whip stacking should be re-added just to make summoner stronger.

They likely aren't going to re-add whips stacking in its previous state due to the new whips and modifiers, which means they would need to look into how they want to nerf it in a way that still allows it to be fun, and that would take some time. That would explain why it isn't back yet.

There is probably going to be a very large patch full of balance changes now that the immediate issues are out of the way. Whether or not that includes a reworking of whip stacking remains to be seen.

There's definitely some more balance changes still coming. Chillet and rollerskates haven't gotten their nerf yet, and we haven't seen the results of the promised look at overarching class balance yet.

Honestly, it’s probably better not to recognize trans men in that case. Trans men are still a vulnerable group, and members early in their transition can still face violence traditionally directed at women. They should maintain access to support systems even after transitioning.

With spider armor, the bewitching table, and a summoning potion, a pygmy necklace gives a buff of +16.6% more minions. On a melee player with Adamantite armor and a wrath potion, a melee emblem is an effective +11.3% damage buff. If you add menacing reforges or other damage buff it drops even lower.

Summoner also has the least defense of any class, so if you want any survivability, you need to get it from your accessories.
You could also wear one of the 4 OOA melee armors instead to bump up defense, but that makes getting minion slots from accesories and potions even more important.

Minion slots are very important to summoners, because they don't get a lot of them. that makes them a very efficient additive buff, which makes the pygmy necklace strong throughout all of progression and the necromantic scroll and papyrus scarab very powerful as soon as you can get them.

They have 6, 9 if you count each OOA one as thier own thing, but they do the same thing and don't stack. 8 if you also count feral claws and the berserkers glove as summoner accessories.

But that's not really a great way to tell how accessory hungry a class is.

Based on some community polls, using an accessory to add it back in seems like the least popular method for bringing it back to the game. I want whip stacking back in some form, but adding another accessory to the most accessory-hungry class in the game seems like a bad idea.

It’s the attack speed buffing whips. They now buff the attack speed of only one whip and automatically apply whenever you land an attack. That makes it practically identical to just increasing the base attack speed of that whip.

The speed buff is useful practically, but mechanically it’s identical to just increasing the base speed of the whip, because it gets applied automatically when you use it and can’t apply to any other whips.

Reverting the whip hitboxes isn’t enough to make up for killing whip stacking.

I understand that it would have been too strong with the new reforges, but removing it outright instead of nerfing it is the worst way you could have balanced it.

Terrible. You removed whip stacking with no notice and refuse to even make any sort of public response to the backlash. I genuinely wish I could just play 1.4.4 again, but steam didn’t allow you to play unless you updated the game.

That is such an incredibly low bar to clear that It is sitting on the floor in hell, but Newsom has determination and a shovel.
