Heard my first robin today - what a welcoming sound it was! Kinda early for my area though?

Happy #musrhoommonday cultivated pink oysters to brighten the day. Absolutely stunning!
The weather today is calling for +16c and drop colder for the rest of the week. Time to sweep the decks.
Four o'clock in ON and temps are +12.5 - opened the top door an hour ago. Good lord fresh air is the best - I can smell the upcoming morels! Snow is misting and melting like the beast it is. Good bye. We will get another snow armageddon - as it's only march. Just enjoying the moment right now.
A cute small cluster of honey mushrooms - Armillaria mellea in a forest dominated by large oaks. I don't usually find the golden ones as there are many different species of honeys. Honeys are a parasitic mushroom, infecting trees.

Yep, I remember the days working in healthcare for over 20 years and being so exhausted just to get called in six hours later - I hated it! Hard to raise a family for sure. You're doing a great job and be proud β€οΈ πͺ
With groceries prices so high and soon will get higher bc of the new war I am really looking for deals! A bag of big Canadian peppers (9) in total for $2 - chop and freeze. Mexico π 3 for $2 (dehydrate) I'm glad I have the time to shop around and feel bad for the general public. Best before products
How awesome is that! Say hi to Monty Don if you see him again and tell him I'm a πͺ fan.
Other great ones are virginia bluebells, small daffodils, bloodroot, brunnera, and snowdrops. I have all the others listed and yep primroses are one of my favourites β€οΈ
A log covered with Ishnoderma resinosum - late fall polypore. If you catch them young the white outer edges are soft and edible. The browner parts are conk-like and very firm. This mushroom lacks gills. Instead, it has a pore surface on the underside of the cap. Common to find.

Gardening already - must be nice! I like watching Monty Don and England doesn't really get a Winter does it?
Yesterday was my birthday and I was gifted some quality clippers from my son. A handy leather holder that fits on a belt or use the clip to attach to pants - I always misplace or lose them so this is great! Just a waiting game now for spring π± Currently -16 c in Ontario.
Nice weather, lucky you! Not sure about the shingles vaccine. It's free in Ontario over 65, so I will probably get it closer to the time. Do you pay for the covid vaccine?
Walk towards the light and you will find the prize! Large puffball basking in the filtered sun. I often find them on the edges of a forest which backs up to a farmers field. One year I found eight throughout the late Summer/Fall season!

Ok thanks.
I'm going to try out vertical gardening and place it on the driveway for better results. Started leeks, eggplant, and peppers. We do have a small area of full/part sun - I don't want to rip that up as it's my butterfly garden. With all the ash trees dying which is very sad it will open up the area.
Happy Thursday β€οΈ Another cold day in Ontario but tomorrow will be a high of +6 c boy oh boy! Some Amanita's from the Fall 2025 showing off. Started some seeds and will attempt to have a veggie garden this year? We are surrounded by trees so finding full sun is difficult. π
Spring is in the air!!
A well weathered stump for #stumpday
Looks like a gathering area for forest fairies.
Such a pretty delicate rose with a really powerful fragrance. Scepterβd Isle. Happy #RoseWednesday to you all.
Thanks. Most ashes around here are dead or dying. It's so sad.
Happy #thicktrunktuesday A large ash tree slowing dying from the emerald ash borer being choked by a large grapevine. Another freezing day in Ontario π
A handsome cluster of velvet shanks - Flammulina velutipes. It has a fibrous, velvety stalk and bright orange cap which can be slimy after rain. Cold weather fruiting mushroom and yummy.

What a find in the late Summer of 2025. Yummy oysters and some beautiful medicinal turkey tail sharing an apartment. I am counting down the days!

π I always think of hamburger buns with sesame seeds.
That could be the cause. Get the fans going and bring some fresh air in the chamber. The yellow oysters look like they have a bit of rosecomb going on? One cause of that is high humidity.
Yes that happens. Like you said clean the chamber well. Is your substrate too wet or the humidity too high?
Have you seen the doc. Montage of Heck? They are now saying he was murdered? Who knows? Grunge is my favourite music alternative rock genre.
An absolutely beautiful flush of cultivated chestnuts from five years ago. Perfection at it's finest!

I'm a grower too. What's the contamination?
