Now that the report is public, the Council has an opportunity to dig into the findings & explore what they could mean for the District—including opportunities to reduce congestion, improve air quality and public health, & strengthen public transit for residents across the city.
For years, DC residents have been waiting for DDOT’s congestion pricing report. As a member of the Transportation & Environment Committee, I’ve pushed for its release because we need the data to seriously consider solutions to traffic, public health challenges, & barriers to public transportation.

🧱 Finally, several capital projects in Ward 4 are scheduled for upcoming modernizations. It is important for all the projects to remain on schedule and that neighborhood and school communities are promptly and thoroughly updated.
📚Stable school funding, transportation, and investments in our educators support student success and workforce participation. At the neighborhood level, Main Streets, libraries, and infrastructure investments strengthen local economies and community identity.
🏊🏾♀️ Accessible recreation and youth programming are proven public safety and public health investments. To sustain these benefits, we must invest in infrastructure, address staffing challenges, and protect programs that provide critical support to young people and families.
🏛️ Community safety depends on prevention, accountability, and functional public infrastructure. At the same time, safe schools, well-maintained public facilities, accessible infrastructure, and the ability to govern effectively are core public safety responsibilities.
🏥 Health and human services allow residents to live with dignity, independence, and stability. The District must preserve and strengthen these services to prevent crises, reduce long-term costs, and ensure residents can remain connected to care and community.
🏡 Housing stability and economic security are the foundation of community wellbeing. As housing costs rise and food prices remain high, we must ensure that residents can remain housed, fed, and financially stable.
My budget priorities reflect what Ward 4 residents have shared about their lives through oversight hearings, budget forums, and community discussions. These conversations have made it clear that residents want a budget that keeps people housed, supported, and able to thrive.
Today, I'm sharing the budget priorities I sent to the Mayor based on community feedback.
Even in a challenging year, we have an opportunity—and a responsibility—to show up for the people of DC by keeping our work on track and making sure every neighbor can meet basic needs. 🧵

Just a few months ago, we had the honor of celebrating Rev. Hagler's living legacy and decades of service. Today, we mourn his loss and pray for all those who loved him. Ward 4 and the District are stronger because he chose to call them home.
Deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our Ward 4 neighbor, pastor, and community leader, Rev. Graylan Hagler.
Rev. Hagler believed, as we do in Ward 4, that our neighborhoods are worthy of dignity, investment, and love, and fought to make that vision real.
