Dilla Month is almost over π© So I figured why not close it with my recreation of a classsic. Fun fact: I played live bass and recreated the iconic Singers Unlimited sample for βPlayersβ
I donβt sing often on records but I loved the challenge of figuring out the best way to recreate it. π€ πΈ

Definitely one of the more underrated beats in Jay Deeβs discography βPregnant (T3)β off of Fantastic Vol 1 just has that X factor about it. I knew once I heard the swirling Rhodes and the Tambourine I was hooked. Check my whole tribute set on my YouTube!
TURN IT UP! π©
My full mix of βone4Jaydeeβ is out now on my YouTube channel. In honor of the contributions that Dilla provided to the art of Hip Hop, I wanted to do a full run of my tribute beat tape.

Around this time last year I was finishing βone4jaydeeβ a collection of reimagined Dilla Joints. Iβve got a special mix Iβm putting together to celebrate him but for now run this up! ππΎ

Oh nah no oneβs getting my launch codes. Youβre gunna have to take me out smh.
Anybody open up old recording sessions and get second hand embarrassment for your past self? Just me?
This is me reengaging this app after a much needed social media hiatus. Hello darkness, my old friend.
the major label system doesn't really speak to rap fans over 35. it's chasing tiktok teens and goading 20-somethings who can max out their credit cards at rolling loud.
underground rap, on the other hand, is out here thriving across generations, with compelling sounds for the youth and grown folks.
@chenoatarin.bsky.social idk if βcaucapitalismβ is a thing but you went crazy with that one.
Bro the more expensive the restaurant, the smaller the food. Caucapitalism you will pay.
Music has blessed me with something to focus on until I die. Itβs beautiful to know that there is still more to know.
Thereβs so much Iβd like to say with music. I understood back in 2019 that I would need years to learn the language.
On my 4th year of playing piano, finishing my first year learning the bass. But this meant being patient and diligent, which now colors my life.
Taking as much time as I need to ACTUALLY get better at music. Thatβs my whole thing rn π€πΎππΎ
Thanks bro!

βThe untouchablesβ shouldnβt count as copaganda, Sean Connery didnβt die for that smh.
I just heard someone blend βlook at me nowβ into βDownfall of us Allβ and I have no idea how to feel.
There were plenty of other important albums that I listened to (lots of metalcore), but these records changed my lifeβs trajectory.
They made me obsess over production and beats in a different way.
1) Madvillainy (my first encounter with DOOM and madlib)
2) Late Registration (my second favorite Kanye Album)
3) The Shining (before I knew how long I ACTUALLY had been listening to J Dilla
4) Samurai Champloo OST (my first intro to Nujabes)
