Albanese is joining an illegal and violent war that has no exit plan and will only lead to more death and destruction for ordinary people, while defence companies, billionaires and oil giants rake in billions.

More than 180 authors quit writers' week. Many returned for a DIY replacement Constellations emerged from the ashes of Adelaide Writers' Week, which was cancelled after authors withdrew over censorship. Organisers share how it came together and lessons for the future.

We stood together against anti-Palestinian racism and they cancelled our festival. So we organised our own.

Very tired now, but very proud of Constellations!

Great in depth coverage from Hannah Story here

NEW BLOGPOST: Keir Starmer and David Lammy are taking an extraordinarily dangerous gamble with our individual liberty

For any MP unsure of how to vote on the government’s proposals to restrict trial by jury.

In my initial reaction, while ridiculing Wong's absurd statements, I also noted that it was highly unlikely that she was telling the truth about having no intelligence about the strikes, or being uninvolved in them, as a member of the Five Eyes alliance, and knowing as we all do about Pine Gap.
In the past two days, we have heard the following:
β€’ Australia did in fact have a role in providing intelligence to America and Israel.
β€’ Two American P-8 Poseidon planes arrived at
Perth's RAAF Base Pearce on Monday
afternoon and one military source claimed the arrival of the aircraft was "unexpected".
Australian and US officials refused to comment on the presence of the P-8s which are primarily used for reconnaissance but can also fire torpedoes or harpoon anti-ship missiles.
β€’ PM Albanese says we have deployed "military assets" to the region
β€’ Three Australian sailors were aboard a nuclear-powered US submarine when it torpedoed - and sank - an Iranian warship off the coast of Sri Lanka yesterday, killing over 80 people on board.

I’m aware that it’s a lot, but the speed of news at the moment is such that it’s important to slow down and lay out the various pieces so the full picture can emerge. And when you do, you realise the degree of bullshit we’re being fed by a craven and frankly evil elites in politics and the media.

The newly amalgamated Adelaide University brings utter shame upon itself in its first months of operation.

In a statement following this shocking act, it risibly claims it is a place where "exchange of ideas can happen freely".

Not if the ideas include a defence of the remaining Gazans, it seems.

We now see you for what you are. The three war parties: One Nation, the Coalition and Labor who have never seen a US war they don't want to back in. Millions of Australians disagree with you. They want a government of principle, they want a government of peace.

Remember the western media's constant refrain that Russia's invasion of Ukraine was "unprovoked" – despite years of documented western provocations.

Iran did nothing to provoke the Israeli-US attack. Yet notice this: not one media outlet has described the attack as "unprovoked".

Albanese says Australia supports US action against Iran and stands with the Iranian people’s β€˜struggle against oppression’ Department of foreign affairs warns travellers of risk of reprisal attacks, further escalation and flight cancellations in Middle East

So Albanese:

- supports [unspecified] US action against Iran, even if illegal
- "stands with the brave people of Iran in their struggle against oppression”, but has said nothing about Trump's or Netanyahu's oppression
- is again proving we are a vassal state.

The US and Israel are bombing Iran. Anyone reporting it as β€œpreventive” is engaging in propaganda, by definition. There is no interpretation of what’s happening as anything else than a crime.

You don’t have to like the Iranian regime to understand why this is bad.

In my utopian vision of the future, instead of offloading all the pointless, annoying work tasks (like reports that none one will read and needlessly opaque forms) to robots, we restructure work and society so that the pointless tasks don't happen at all.

The "most moral army in the world" captured a Gazan doctor at a hospital, tortured him, then brought him a tablet showing a livestream of his home, called in a strike that killed his six-month-pregnant wife, and made him watch until the rescue crew pulled her body from the rubble. #GazaGenocide
