Rewatched Uncut Gems for the first time in a few years. Away from all the memes and everything else, it really is one of the true great American movies of the last however many years. Lightning in a bottle. The frame of KG towering above on the tv will live with me forever
Not a big year for movie-watching personally but these were the most memorable ones I've seen in 2024 π₯

Maus author Art Spiegelmanβs next comic will be about Gaza, in collaboration with Joe Sacco. He thinks he will struggle to find a publisher in the United States.

Funniest moment in my Death Stranding playthrough so far - Mads Mikkelsen refers to his son as BB (for "Bridge Baby") too. Kojima on point as usual
Ludacris throwing out the first pitch at a Braves game with aforementioned big arms
one of the quieter mysteries of 2024 is whether Ludacris kept the big arms from the Get Back music video himself or if they rest in some place of honor, waiting for their champion's time of need
Thought about it and I'm on board with deleting all the tweets forever
kill me now
I think I've managed to confuse myself about this too now lol - its been a while (plus the math works out so its easy to just not think too hard about it π )
I'm sure I've butchered this! But here's maybe some nice references :

actually I should be more clear here π probability of getting atleast 1 head can be summed from probabilities of getting exactly 1, exactly 2 etc. Waves on the other hand are fuzzier because if you don't restrict it spatially you aren't summing up from discrete localized coins, there's a "coin wave"
that's definitely one way to do it, atleast bounding it spatially. I think its a bit like a counting game. if you flip N coins and count how many heads there are, you always get a particle like answer, i.e the probabilities for each number can be added.
your intuition is correct! particles are ~waves of definite momentum and mass (which are defined concretely). if you have a free particle that just behaves like an unlocalized wave. but if you put it in a different environment (squished inside bounding box for eg) it becomes more particle-y
Newest results on muon anomalous magnetic moment: g-2 = 0.00233184110 +/- 0.00000000043 (stat.) +/- 0.00000000019 (syst.), a precision of 0.20 parts per million (!!). People are excited about this because a discrepancy between this value & theory calculations could reveal new physics. But: [cont] π§ͺ

now watching - RIP to a real one
one thing you have to respect about rudy giuliani is that he has fully committed himself to being a little goblin. the man did not take any shortcuts. heβs put in the long hours and the hard work. and look how itβs paid off. magnificent.
Gary Oldman is now one Stalin impression short of being able to do a one-man Potsdam Conference
with BARBIE and OPPENHEIMER getting raves I can't remember the last time the three spheres of relevant film reception (critics, audiences, Paul Schrader) were so magnificently aligned
The one for Jerry Maguire is a personal fave
Hell yeah!!

it's crazy how little meaningful innovation there was in the bagel industry for decades. just some combination of the same 6 or 7 seeds or dry seasonings for decades and then one day, blammo. jalapeno
Screenshot of wikipedia category for the MacArthur family. The text reads "Note: The MacArthur given name convention is slightly confusing. The patriarch was Arthur Sr., whose son was Arthur Jr, who had three sons: Arthur III, Malcolm (died in his youth), and Douglas. Arthur III's son is Douglas II, and Douglas' son is Arthur IV." Below it further links to pages in the wiki category "MacArthur Family" with articles about Arthur MacArthur I-IV, Douglas MacArthur I-II and Jean and John MacArthur
Love trying to name my kid something else (Malcolm) only to realize that its actually cursed and we have to go back to more goofy names
Also not hard to feel for him within the context of what promise America had to him as a kid in the 60s and what it became later on, especially in his mind
