Animator here means "a costumed children entrainer", both as a hired performer or those guys who walk outsude and take photos with kids.

Maybe originally it was about people in full costumes so they "animate" the chatecters? But then spread to any cosplayers?

In Ukrainian we call them "animator", not sure why. This word appeared before the English/French meaning of "animated film artist" became widespread (it was "multiplicator" two decades or so ago)

Not me thinking it was a Kurt Covain's Nirvana the band's biopic prior to this

Про це творці комедійного мультсеріалу Майкл К'юзак і Зак Гейдел, оголосили на відео у твітері каналу [adult swim]. Причину воно чесно назвали як банальне вигорання творців й відмова видавати будь-що гірше за стовідсотковий результат.

I am sure at least some iterations of Spider-Man are this and he is not alone. Could people more into comics help me remember if there is an adult female character with the same premise?

They promote the films as "made by Toy Story creator" yet ommit the part why the heck does the guy who created one of the most influential animated films leave arguably the most respected Western studio to work on mediocre (with all respect to the crew) flicks
