Yep ☝️
Labor have a mandate to keep their promises and implement the policies they took to the election. Anything more (or less) would be called a broken promise by the other parties and the media.

The article also reinforced this for me. Parties offer policies before an election. A win for one provides it with a mandate to work to legislate these policies. No more. Labor’s stunning election victory doesn’t give it a mandate to work to enact every piece of legislation Greens supporters desire.

The political centre has shifted 5.5 points to the left since the LNP's last win in 2019. Albo's Labor government will keep nudging the nation left 🤗.
The coalition will either evolve towards the left or go extinct.

Perversely, any overt attempts to save the planet get labelled "End Of The World" by our right-wing press.
Meaningful help for the environment has to be achieved obliquely, e.g. boosting renewable energy to make coal power worthless instead of just closing mines.

Slow progress, however maddening, is progress nonetheless. Past elections have taught us that any rush to the Left delivers votes to the Right.

Over the last 3 years Albo's Labor government have shifted the sensible centre gently towards the left and will keep heading in that direction for the next 3 years. The future looks so much brighter thanks to Labor.

Conservatives have always had no regard for, or belief in, the consequences of their actions/decisions. I've noticed lately the same mindset appearing in progressive conversations. What's going on Van?

Yes! Careful diplomacy and national security are things good, responsible governments have to do.
The shirt-fronting, knee-jerk, brain-fart diplomacy we got from the previous LNP government were examples of what NOT to do.

Labor will gently pull the sensible centre towards the left; slowly, bit by bit.
The Liberals can either follow the sensible centre or go extinct.

Ed belongs to the party so he follows the party's rules. Now he's a backbencher, he's free to speak his mind because that's the party's rules. Full respect to Mr Husic. Self-discipline and party-discipline on display this weekend.

Federally, Labor haven't had any opposition holding them to account since the 2022 election. LNP and Greens with their culture wars and playing politics have effectively abandoned the field of play and joined the spectators in the grandstand, booing whenever the government kicked a goal.

I've heard Coalition MPs' approach to the recent election campaign described as "huffing their own farts while Sharri Markson assures them the polls are wrong"; and now you're stuck with that mental picture as well.
