Why do I not know any of the little girlβs names from Minab? Why do I not know what poems those little girls studied, the names of their mums? The dreams they had. Somebody tell me so I can remember them for the rest of my life. π

First lecture done as Visiting Academic at the University of Warwick, at the @warwickpais.bsky.social @wicidwarwick.bsky.social on Future Pandemic Governance, Democratic Legitimacy, and Efficiency. I spoke about how global north dominated governance reduced efficiency, racism & self tests, &more.
Good. But I hope this puts an end to non-white countries believing they have immunity from western imperialism.
Compulsory reading.
What irks me the most about white feminism is that it wants to save Iranian women from compulsory hijab, while not acknowledging that its methods to do that involve killing 63 Iranian girls aged 7-12 and 20 women volleyball players. Who will never see the day where they will have free choice.
And 20 members of a womenβs volleyball team yesterday. This is how the United States defends women from hijab. By killing them.
Espen Barth Eide has gotten conflicts consistently right.
Much better statement than most other western leaders - who have urged Iran to deescalate. They didnβt start this.
51 girls aged 7-12 killed already in Southern Iran. A horrific tragedy.
Middle East Eye: " #BREAKING: At least 24 girls have been killed in an air strike on an elementary school in southern Iran, local authorities said, as the United States and Israel ramps up attacks on the country.
@fifarahman.bsky.social will next week be delivering the @wicidwarwick.bsky.social guest lecture "Future Pandemic Governance: Imperatives for Democratic Legitimacy and Efficiency".

Illegal migrant in small boat stopped from entering sovereign territory without a permit.
At the opening of the 39th summit of the African Union, the Chairman of the Commission Mahmoud Ali Youssouf said the "extermination" of the Palestinian people must end.
No science, just vibes.
These cuts were expected, but highly concerning nonetheless. Of particular concern is the budget for @unitaid.bsky.social - which possesses a unique space in modifying health technologies so they reach patients faster. Hoping @afd-france.bsky.social maintains β¬. www.france24.com/en/france/20...
Great to be at @lselaw.bsky.social today for an event organised by @sivathambisetty.bsky.social on DSI and Access and Benefit Sharing. Great discussions on whether weβve done the intellectual/philosophical work on what DSI is before defining it, the polycentric governance of ABS laws, and more.
Maniacal behaviour. My fear is what this means for the rest of the world. Hoping that our global majority countries have better sense than U.S. states and U.S. leadership in general.
When is the American establishment going to realise that their domestic affairs are probably more important to handle instead of continuing to finance genocide?
A Swedish study of nearly 60,000 women finds COVID-19 vaccines don't affect fertility. The additional evidence may not persuade all wome. Public attitudes about vaccines, Dr. Tara Smith said, βtend to be based on vibes and feelings," not data.

It is endlessly frustrating that this needs to be said, but to believe this is to believe that cold blooded mass murder of civilians is acceptable in Gaza, but not in Minneapolis. A politics that is imaginatively stunted and racially circumscribed.
Those core values killed 1.3 million Iraqis and who knows how many thousands of Palestinians. I donβt think anyone should be surprised vis-a-vis the imperial boomerang. And now innocent Americans, including a mum and an ICU nurse, have faced the consequences.
The United States is completely lawless.
Sobering. And stupid.
Glad this is suspended.
It should have never been approved in the first place.
We need strength and consistency from all Global Majority governments. Not Accraβs message of public health independence one second and acquiescing to U.S. imperialist demands the next.
Spoke to a friend who works in Madagascar today. Two young men aged 20 and 24 died prematurely. As is custom, buried within 24 hours without a post-mortem/disease investigations. And for years, we have heard from global health agencies that Mada is βtoo hardβ βtoo complexβ. These are the results.
Thanks Sarah!!
I canβt find it now but saw a graph on the reduction of scientific workforce in the United States. This will indisputably hurt the United States, and the world at large. So much technical expertise and technological advancement in medicines and diagnostics comes from the U.S.
Great speech, but I am conflicted knowing that this man propped up the genocidal state of Israel so recently. Time will tell whether Carney really means it.
