Soil carbon as a blind spot in tropical rainforest restoration
Keller et al. discuss the potential effects of active restoration on soil organic
carbon storage in the topsoil in tropical rainforests.
Into tropical forest restoration? Check out our new review led by @nadike.bsky.social discussing pathways of SOC gain and loss during active restoration | out now in @currentbiology.bsky.social
Let's get more C back into these soils!

Cliffs are extreme environments home to unique and diverse plants. ⛰️
Felipe Morales Armijo, a SPUN Underground Explorer, is researching how mycorrhizal fungi might help plants grow in these harsh cliff habitats. Learn more about the Underground Explorers Program: https://buff.ly/4iM6lMg

Effective, efficient, and fair peer reviewing 2023
Effective, efficient, and fair peer reviewing Ben Bond-Lamberty Based on a presentation at the AGU Early Career Scientist Workshop, 2019 1
Scientists are expected to do peer reviewing but no one tells you HOW. After talking with several folks about this today at #AGU24 , it seems a good time to link to this presentation I made several years ago -- feel free to use/share! docs.google.com/presentation...

Snowplants. Sarcodes sanguinea. They have no chlorophyll and are parasitic plants that get their nutrients and sugars from the roots of trees via mycorrhizal fungi. They are in the family Ericaceae, the same family as azaleas and blueberries. We found these in the mountains of S California
