We designed a DNA origami system that disassembles in presence of specific miRNA and visualised the disassembly process using high speed AFM. Find a link to the preprint in the comments. Feedback and comments are highly appreciated!!!
Exciting work led by @nano-chalmers.bsky.social delivered in collaboration with @georgerheath.bsky.social introducing a rationally designed DNA origami system for the multiplexed detection of miRNA in crude RNA extracts via nanopore sensing.
❗NEW PAPER❗
Check out our review on #ribosome heterogeneity and specialisation published today!
We discuss the mechanisms of specialisation, review the latest research and explore how technological advancements will drive the next set of research questions.

amazing!!!! i loved reading your first paper and looking forward to reading (and using) this one!!!!
dream team reunited!!!!
Super exciting new paper from three of our brilliant RiboCoders and Nikki Weckman exploring the use of solid-state nanopore in monitoring enzyme digestion pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...
Congrats @nano-chalmers.bsky.social @paoloactis.bsky.social and Emma Thomson!
Artwork inspired by Joy Division 👌

@chancao.bsky.social Have a great time in Bolzano #SMPS4
Working with Nikki Weckman (U toronto) and Emma Thomson (U Sheffield) 2e found out that a single point mutation in the guide RNA of the Cas9-RNP complex is sufficient to alter the digestion activities.
We use a polymer electrolyte as trans electrolyte which allows us to use biochemical buffers without compromising the detection sensitivity so we can monitor in real time enzymatic reactions
The TOC graphic was inspired from the signal analysis of the CP 1919 pulsar and Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures album. @ceesdekker.bsky.social ever publish a na-na-na nanopore album we have already got the cover sorted ! (those waves are DNA molecules translocating through the nanopore)
We cannot join #SMPS4 but hot off the press our nanopore work to monitor CAS9 reactivity and its off-target effects. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...
