π Want to hear about our recent work on measurement error in food access measures? Sign up for this Friday's North Carolina Chapter of the American Statistical Association Webinar! It's free, and I'd love to see you there!
Love these!! A *significant* addition to the post!
How many stats puns as slide titles is too many? Asking for a friend...
π I'm excited to share a new arXiv preprint with Anh Nguyen and @sarahlotspeich.bsky.social on "Linking Potentially Misclassified Healthy Food Access to Diabetes Prevalence." I couldn't have asked for a better duo to help my first first-author paper come together! π

Hi Annie! A great question. The data pull for this work was done a year or so ago, but we definitely need to be mindful of data quality and availability going forward. Iβm not aware of any other global options but if you are Iβd love to know about them! I honestly havenβt looked for them yet.
β‘οΈ Kind, knowledgable collaborators who shared my vision and amplified my energy.
πΊοΈ Funds to let my map-loving heart run a little wild and chase a hypothesis.
π High-quality public health datasets from CDC that enable research like this.
π The most pleasant, constructive peer-review process.
π I'm grateful for a lot with this paper, and I'm excited about all of the future directions that are already underway.π§΅

ποΈ Today at 11:30 AM (Central) @sarahlotspeich.bsky.social (Assistant Prof) will be discussing an imputation solution to accurately and efficiently measure access to healthy foods and its relationship to obesity at #ENAR2025. See more π
ποΈ Catch Ashley Mullan (Masters Alum) and Cassandra Hung (Undergrad Researcher) at tonight's #ENAR2025 poster session (8-11PM CT). Ashley will discuss visualizing cost-effectiveness for cancer treatment, and Cassandra's work evaluates the impact of measurement error on health disparities models.
Thank you so much!! Itβs really my honor π₯Ή
π€ Looking forward to connecting with everyone next week, and especially excited for Cassandra Hungβe and @ashleymullan.bsky.socialβs poster presentations on Sunday night!
Read the preprint here: arxiv.org/abs/2502.05380 This project definitely took a village, and I'm immensely grateful to our collaborators for making it such a success! Also, I think this paper has my prettiest figures yet. π©βπ¨
π I'm excited to share our recently completed work on "Overcoming data challenges to measure whole-person health in electronic health records," for which Joe Rigdon and I received one of the first intercampus collaborative grants from Wake Forest University and Wake Forest School of Medicine.
π€© Lucky to be your classmate. Even luckier to be your colleague. Yay, Lucy!!
π Last night two of our faculty attended the NC ASA Annual Dinner to hear from Ron Wasserstein about improbability, mingle, and receive awards! Robert Erhardt (Chair and Prof) received the Senior Statistician Award and @sarahlotspeich.bsky.social (Assistant Prof) received the Service Award.
