Or just waived into the bar. Canβt in CA but thatβs what I did in WA state because process is almost identical (except for four hour open book 60 question multiple choice test). Only reason I didnβt in NJ is because I didnβt meet the years of practice requirement because my prior job was non-legal
I eventually sat the lawyers exam in CA for flexibility. Otherwise you have 30 days if you leave a job before your in house license expires (I think it is 90 days in NJ).
No drawbacks other than you can only practice for the corporate client and canβt really do pro bono. Have to do full C&E which is a pain the older you are, the more places youβve lived, and the more admissions you have.
To be clear four times: twice in each state.
