🧵1/2 If you've been affected by the trauma of racism, or are seeking to help people who are, our new guides will help. Racism causes trauma and mental illness. Public services that don't understand race, racism and trauma-informed care can compound this - for both people seeking support and workers

📢 The latest figures from #UKPoverty2026 reveal a picture of poverty hardening, not easing.

The average person in poverty in 2021-24 was 29% below the poverty line.

This is up from 23% in 1994-97.

As people fall further into poverty, the impact on their lives worsens.

I never thought I’d see an asylum hotel on fire, or worry about my staff’s safety. The past five years changed that | Enver Solomon As head of an immigration charity, I’ve seen firsthand how hostility and toxicity have reached unprecedented levels, says outgoing Refugee Council CEO Enver Solomon

"This narrative shift has been stark. It has emboldened the far right to exploit people’s concerns and pushed them to take matters into their own hands."

Healing takes time. ⏳
This study shows just how much.

A major UK trial (DECRYPT) tested cognitive therapy for PTSD (CT-PTSD) for young people facing multiple traumas. Both groups improved, but CT-PTSD delivered clearer, stronger gains by 11 months.
