Nigel Farage, whose party recently put a teenager with zero work experience of any kind in charge of an entire English county, accuses the government of appointing people "with no knowledge" or experience in charge of Government departments
Conference season is here. Run. Save yourself.

Oh.
I say lucrative second jobs for MPs must be banned and counted as the criminal procurement of political influence. Would Farage still be willing to work as an MP? I doubt it.
Let's clean up our politics and squeeze venal, grifting, treasonous scumbags like Farage out of Parliament.

Get this crap Reform crap off my screen, its not news its far right propaganda.
This is not the 1930's 🤬
England remains invisible in the UK’s devolved constitutional set-up. Could this be the real root of English grievance that Farage so successfully taps into – not Brussels, not migrants, but Westminster itself?

What do Nigel Farage's constituents really think is wrong with the country?
I've been in Clacton today to find out.

Bridget Phillipson, "Reform UK and Nigel Farage want to promote anger but they don't actually want to solve the problems we face in front of us"

Putin has not changed.
In the last 25 years he started four wars.
He can only be kept in check through strong deterrence.
We must be precise and fast with the surge in our defence posture ↓

Why on earth do the Tories want to keep people locked into high energy bills? And, come to that, why is the BBC citing Reform but saying nothing about climate science or renewable alternatives?
Complete madness - except for the fossil fuel industry of course
Interesting that it's always the political equivalent of a snake oil salesman who want to withdraw from the ECHR. And they say that they will introduce legislation to protect the appropriate rights. If you believe that, then I have a bridge to sell you.
“Trump once said he wanted the generals that Hitler had,” Dr. Paul Josephson wrote. “He’s certainly working on getting the science that Hitler and Stalin had.”

My visit to the Poland-Belarus border was a demonstration of European solidarity.
A strong Poland and a strong Europe, safeguarding our borders and protecting all Europeans.
Our message is clear. And it is one that Belarus, and other actors in the region, are paying heed to.
What has the ECHR ever done for us. Patrick Stewart explains. It was the British gov under Churchill that was mostly responsible for the ECHR. They wanted to ensure ppl had rights enshrined in law so the Nazis wouldn't be able to rise again.

Leaving the ECHR won’t “Take Back Control” – it will hand your rights to politicians
“The myths are seductive, the reality is very different – without the ECHR your freedoms rest on whichever Home Secretary wakes up grumpy”

The dead candidate had "love Farage, Tommy and DJT" [Trump] on her profile. RIP.
Reform said it was "mortified" and apologised profusely in April 2024 after announcing the sacking of a parliamentary candidate in York for "complete inactivity" without realising he was dead.
Selecting a long dead candidate seems weirder still

Reform will have to reselect in Croydon, as their initial candidate for Mayor had been dead for 6 months when they selected her, Inside Croydon report
Being dead is one way to pass the social media vetting but was likely to get noticed eventually

No, with respect, the buck stops with him. He's the leader. Not McSweeney, not the comms guy. He sets the strategy, tone and values. He is responsible. Either Starmer and his whole crew are ousted and are replaced by something very different or its Vichy Labour from here until doomsday.
This. Is. So. Incredible.
Everyone should know this. Including the utterly stupid person I spoke to the other day that was ambivalent about Reform.
Unfortunately he’s vanished into the ether
What the hell?
He also said, “I can do anything I want, I’m the president of the United States.” The man wants to be king, but we became our own country to never again be ruled by one.
Something we need to grasp is that Establishment power meant imperialism. Imperialism is a system of thought that sees upper class white men as the pinnacle of humanity, with a sacred duty to control the lives of others. What we now call the far right is an extension and revival of imperialism.
Isn't it remarkable just how much more of a clear-eyed perspective a little distance, in this case from the Wall Street Journal in the US, can provide?
