you design 2-layer PCBs because you're good at making efficient layouts. I design 2-layer PCBs because I'm a cheapass. We are not the same

I didn't realize that many people had these lmao, my friend designed them and gave one to me in exchange for a box of miscellaneous electronics bits
spent two hours with a wrench and a torch to try and figure out why my 6GHz calibration standard was dead. If it wasn't broken before it sure is now. Tiny little ceramic substrate PCB with two carbon traces that combine to make an extremely precise 50Ξ© load, and now unfortunately in two pieces.
meme showing tux, the tuxedo penguin linux mascot says: "I'm still using a signed 32-bit integer to store the time." hearing this is xenia, an alternative anthromorphic female fox mascot that's made to represent linux as well. she rips out a section of the calendar only to see it go from january 2038, to december 1901.

Morning
super secret sneak preview of a song for an upcoming @newgrounds.com collab with a bunch of other super talented artists! (and yes I love writing piano sections that would require 3 hands to play)

I end up in the strangest places sometimes
a blank prototyping board ready to be soldered
a fully soldered prototype board filled with enamel wire and jumpers
it's always fun to build up a circuit the "old school" way
the string libs sound great! What lib is it?
finished my entry for the #newgrounds audio deathmatch semifinals!

all the best windows software in history is called something like "joe's thing doer". it does the thing and nothing else and is available on a html website in plain text and takes up under a megabyte of space and uses default windows ui elements and will work until the heat death of the universe
And on soundcloud as well:

The #Newgrounds Audio Deathmatch is back for 2025!
For those unfamiliar, the NGADM is a yearly single elimination tourney where you have to write a new song from scratch every 2 weeks.
just finished my round 1 track with a whole hour to spare! Listen below on NG

first stab at doing pixel art (thanks wplace for the motivation)
thought I wrote some crazy polyrhythm shit in FL until I realized it was just the washing machine in the basement shaking itself apart
Trying something a little different with this song - it's a score to a story I've been reading, "Sovereign of Wrath" by MadMaxine on Scribblehub/Royal Road. Check out the description for download links & a full breakdown of the themes and sections.

I mostly wrote this to test out a new brass library, but just kinda kept adding to it and suddenly it was a whole song

cranking out the tunes (sneak peak of a new song)
And of course, I have to end with the song that still has the most plays out of anything I've ever written, despite being over 7 years old now. I've improved so much since then but I'm glad so many people still enjoy this one.
This is still one of my all-time favorite tracks. I tried blending my orchestral and electronic stuff together and it worked way better than I expected.
One of the bigger projects of mine last year and something I'm still super proud of, an orchestral arrangement of Stranded by @redvoxband.bsky.social
Posting some of my better works over here - this one nabbed me 3rd place in the 2023 Newgrounds Audio Deathmatch and I'm still riding that high a year later.
it's only been a decade of making music, might as well get a social media presence
