Can an AI beat a knowledgeable motivated expert? By no means. Pay your reviewers or scientific quality will keep dropping as well as the scientists’ prestige.
This is a far more complex issue. Does an AI model perform better than many unpaid reviewers who write uninspired reviews based on a general impression just to keep the wheel rolling? Yes.
