Listening to John Green’s thoughts on Auld Lang Syne from Anthropocene Reviewed has me feeling feelings. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...
I’m grateful for all the people who have made me who I am today!
“You will be visited by 3 spirits”
The spirits:
Took the step (risk?) in changing up a final assignment that wasn’t quite giving students a full opportunity to apply course material… well reading through these first few final papers, I can say it was well worth the risk!
Me on a candlelit vigil for AIDS in 1987.
Me last week. Looking pretty healthy for 58 (28 years living with HIV).
I was diagnosed with #HIV in 1998, when I was 30.
Many of my friends had died of AIDS. I did not expect to live to 50.
I’m 58 now.
HIV treatment works.
Treatment also makes it impossible for me to pass HIV on during sex.
Ensure HIV treatment for all.
End HIV stigma.

Tis the season for me to loudly say that Christmas (aka holiday) trees with overt Christian symbols have no place at a public college. These symbols have a chilling effect on belonging for some LGBTQ+ students, international students, and students of color. #CallMeMrGrinch #ItsDrGrinch
Just watched this last night. A film for the soul. For all who believe in love, in hope, and in each other. Thank you Andrea Gibson, Megan Falley, Tig Notaro, and Ryan White ❤️❤️
Grateful I got to hear @seemiaroll.bsky.social as the AHG keynote. An amazing remembrance of Alice Wong and commitment to be part of an accessible future. I’m filled with hope!

Book cover of The Caring University: Reimagining the higher education workplace after the great resignation. With a hexagon in the background with yellows, pinks, and blues.
Just finished @drkevinrmcclure.com’s The Caring University. I think this is a must read for seasoned or emerging leaders in higher education. What can we do to create more caring workplaces? What steps can we take to reduce harm and spread love? #highered #studentaffairs
[Image description: Illustration and text against a very pale blue background. Text in the colors of the disability pride flag reads: “AWN CELEBRATES DISABILITY PRIDE JULY 2025” Across the image are digital illustrations of seven people who display a wide range of ages, height, hair color / style, clothing style and color, and using different types of mobility devices. In the lower right hand corner is the awn logo: A large pink “a” with a pale teal winged spoonie dragonfly, below is our url: awnnetwork dot org. ] #disability #DisabilityPrideMonth #Disability #DisabilityPride2025
AWN celebrates Disability Pride Month in July!
You made the courageous decision to do a career change and found a job you truly love. I love you!!
Authoritarianism wants me quiet. Fascism wants me to be orderly. So I’m going to be loud, gay, and unapologetically expressive. My existence is resistance.
This is not about advantage or protecting women; it’s theater mixed with harm to stigmatize trans people, erase their identities and existence from public life, and roll back (the minuscule) civil protections that existed. All of which will further harm cis women too.
Wild in this moment is watching institutions like UPenn throw the most vulnerable under the bus to *maybe* get funding again despite evidence to the contrary (see Columbia).
Institutions of higher education have to find a way to move beyond federal compliance to do the right thing. We must create cultures of courage, justice, and inclusion. We need more courageous leaders. Over reliance and compliance will never be the answer.
As fascism rises, we get to see who resists & who collaborates.
Penn & UVA are collaborating — folding like cheap tents. They won’t benefit, of course, since a bully always comes back for more.
And history will remember. Just like history remembers who made what choices in the 1930s.
Happy disability pride month!
Hello 👋🏻 your fellow radicalized queer here to say everyone is deserving of love and acceptance. I love dreaming about that future and am never going to stop.
I’m thinking about hope today and the ways in which hope can inspire. LGBTQ people have a long history of giving each other hope for a better world. I just listened to Harvey Milk give me hope. We’ve got to give them hope.

Gender affirming care is healthcare. LGBTQ youth suicide hotlines are lifesaving. Now is the time to support your local LGBT organizations.
This government means to destroy us. We resist together, in community. We survive together, in community.
Pride flags being removed from government offices in a neighboring community. This is why we need put loud Pride!
Spending the morning prepping for a dissertation defense (my first time being on a committee). I just have to re-express my love for qualitative research in higher education. There are such rich, beautiful ways that we can transform the world.
Just finished reading Marsha: The Joy and Defiance of Marsha P Johnson and I have to say this is a must read. We are all in dented to Marsha’s legacy.
Queer joy = @billiamives.bsky.social saying “THE NEW WICKED TRAILER IS OUT” before “good morning” 🏳️🌈

Pride month! Queer joy! Queer Resistance! Pride Month!
There is nothing like hearing my husband laugh while he’s watching a silly little program! Joy unlocked 🥰
Bluesky is “screen reader accessible” the way a staircase is “technically a wheelchair ramp.”
No keyboard nav. No useful landmarks. No focus memory. I lose my place every time I interact with a post.
Compliance ≠ usability.

I love graduation season. I love the hope. I love the love. I love education!
