By tackling capitalism, consumption and inequality, people would have better lives and people with better lives and opportunities have less kids. How does she propose to tackle population? She's soured my opinion of an otherwise good film.
What we can't have is 10 Billion consuming as we do now. And she says it herself! If everyone went Vegan it would free up 75% of land which can then be used for rewilding (and imo housing that potential population increase). You have provided possible solutions, she largely hasn't.
I'm well aware that you point out that as population grows, the amount of emissions per capita has to cut. What you've done in your book is point out that our lives and consumption has to change. And If we manage to cut those emissions, we can technically have 10 Billion.
I watched the film and was angered by the infighting on her part. Time was wasted accusing you of downplaying population when time could be spent attacking climate deniers and corrupt Governments. I've read your book 'Heat',
I'm hoping they'll be too large to fit through the hole in spring π¬
Cannot believe that just by creating a meadow lawn and a wildlife pond, I now have Muntjac Fawns coming in and out of my Hedgehog highway to nibble on the plants all day! Insane when you think what the garden was like when I moved in!
We dont all need to be vegan but all the land currently used for feed crops and grazing would be so much better used to restore nature. We need to eat a fraction of the meat and dairy that we do, until we do, Vegans shoulder the weight of reducing land use per human
It's not about not having animals. It's about bringing back the wild animals (or as close to as possible given we've caused extinctions) to bring back natural processes of grazing and nutrient recycling instead of intensively farmed livestock, feed crops, over grazing and pollution.
Black text on a white background: Due to rising costs and more competition for funding, we are having to scale back our work. Weβve had to make painful decisions, including staff redundancies. With staff and resources stretched to their limit, we are now considering which vital projects may no longer be possible. This comes when bumblebees are struggling to recover following their worst year on record. Iβve never been more worried, or more determined to fight for a future for bumblebees. We need to raise Β£50,000 right away to make sure we can continue our vital work. If youβve ever thought about giving a donation, weβre asking you to please, make it today. Thank you, Weβre facing the hardest chapter in our history. Gill Perkins, CEO Bumblebee Conservation Trust

If there is more life on a kids nit comb than a garden, we need Government to step in and end the trend. Please sign to ban domestic use of Plastic Grass

Every day I find a new species in my newly created wildlife garden. This week, Pirate Otter Spider, Roesels Bush Cricket and Red Tailed Cuckoo Bee
Everyone says a Wildlife Pond is the #1 thing you can do for wildlife in your garden. And just a month in, I agree, a whole range of Visitors from Hedgehogs, Mallards, to Caddisfly Larvae and this Blackcap #Springwatch @bbcspringwatch.bsky.social
Disappointing that a TV show on the 270 Bee Species in Britain spends half the time promoting Honey Bees and giving air time to a hotel in London (the worst environment to have hives competing with our native Bees for scarce nectar) on plastic grass! #TheSecretLifeOfBees #Channel5
Once a blank canvas with a grand total of one Blackbird visit when I moved in, my garden is slowly filling with life!
Build it and they will come!
Work has begun πΈ
How do we stand a chance changing the course of species decline and habitat loss when in 2025, News outlets are still posting this utter garbage...
Further to various comments from eg @markavery.bsky.social, @chrisgpackham.bsky.social and @raptorpersuk.bsky.social, about the decision by @privateeyenews.bsky.social not to take any more ££ from @wildjustice.bsky.social for their "pheasant" advert... I find myself at this week's letters page. π§΅1/8
I think my pond will be the big one. Just need to get the liner and rocks to get started. But already, there are bees and butterflies in. Before there was nothing. Not even snails. Annoyingly the lawn was treated so getting some plant diversity is going to be tough and meadow of my dreams 100 years!
Just 5 months in my new home and blank garden with zero wildlife is already transforming. Crocus Lawn, Log Piles, Shrub Beds, Compost Bin built, Native Hedgerow and a Rowan planted and Bee Hotels fitted. Getting there!
A frosty sunrise with soft pink skies behind silhouetted heathland.
Sunbeams breaking through trees onto a heath covered in vibrant purple heather.
A sunlit path leading through a wintery forest with light fog and yellow gorse flowers in the foreground
A bright sky with low mist above green and lush heathland
OK, maybe we're a tad biased, but RSPB Arne nature reserve really is something special. π
Get #Winterwatch on now to see it in all its glory!
Who's already watching?

@davegoulson.bsky.social Glad to see more and more insect lovers on Bluesky. Probably visiting Scotland again this year to see all the majestic bees again.
From X to Bluesky, lets start with one of my first bumblebee photo's. Spring 2017 in front of my house in Delft
Made of most of rare afternoon sunshine in Lincolnshire to go and see the Seals at Donna Nook
I think I'll probably get more bang for my buck by sticking to my original bee focused shrubs. I have a Rowan and a native hedge just planted for the bird cover. Thank you both
Wildlife Gardening community, Photinia Red Robin, good for wildlife and pollinators or a waste of space please? Been offered a free one but trying to have maximum wildlife value in the garden.
What's your controversial opinion in your field? I think orcas are dickheads.
We should stop spending millions of pounds on concrete engineered flood solutions and just rewiggle rivers, reconnect floodplains, plant trees and release beavers.
