Where the Red Fern Grows still makes me ugly cry.

Public librarian who makes jewelry and fused glass, loves Broadway, is fascinated with politics and history, and firmly believes that life would be better if people handled conflict by bursting into song and/or having choreographed dance battles.

In a weird way, serving jury duty this week has been extremely comforting - a reminder that even though many things are going to shit, some parts of the system are actually working the way they should. I really needed that.
My Driverβs Ed teacher was an alcoholic who drank on the job, including when he was supervising student drivers on public roads. All of the students knew this, but it didnβt occur to anyone that perhaps we should notify a parent or school admin.
Took the docent-led tour of @lapubliclibrary.bsky.social and wow. Just - wow.

Three small metal pendants.
Took a jewelry making class this morning that was a lot of fun.
Turned on the βvintageβ radio station and they were playing Nirvana. I kind of feel like Iβve been personally attacked.
So true!

Our PE teacher was put on leave for being drunk at work. When he came back, he taught Driverβs Ed - still drunk.
We donβt use CloudLibrary so Iβm not positive, but I think itβs more like Libby than hoopla.
@heykellyjensen.bsky.social wrote a great article for Bookriot about hoopla and other ebook services a couple of months ago: bookriot.com/library-hoop...
Pickles is never off topic! One of my favorites since I was very young!
Completely agree with physical items and Libby, but please remember that each hoopla checkout costs your library between $0.99 and $4.99 (at least in CA), so itβs best to only get the things you actually want to use.
