I think this is insane hype, but also I think anyone currently working on developing โ€œAGIโ€ or โ€œsuperintelligenceโ€ should be considered and enemy of the human race even now.

If โ€œall humans dead or obsolete in X yearsโ€ were actually a possibility, we should have boots on the ground in the Bay Area and be dragging tech execs before a hostile tribunal.

The dog one is my favorite.

But also, $2 a gallon was nice last week. $2 a gallon was also all right in 2006.

Yeah thatโ€™s what I meant.

Also, โ€œwhite peopleโ€ isnโ€™t an ethnicity.

Your homeland is where your home is. these dipshits should know this, since neither of them is from the place where their โ€œgroupโ€ originated.

No what I meant was how long ago this was said โ€ฆ but tbh gas doesnโ€™t really โ€œinflateโ€ the same way other consumer products do.

09.03.2026 02:12 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

What are all these?

A while back someone observed that she was better at her job than Karine J-P and people got really mad. But itโ€˜s just objectively true when you think of what the job is.

08.03.2026 23:54 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Tbf what about inflation?

โ€œโ€˜My country, right or wrong,โ€™ is a thing that no patriot would think of saying. It is like saying, โ€˜My mother, drunk or sober.โ€™โ€ โ€” G. K. Chesterton

Explain please.

Well I can think of some ways where itโ€™d be absurd and have seen some cases myself (these were wealthy people to begin with), but itโ€™s probably so rare that doing anything about it would result in many other cases of injustice so whatever

08.03.2026 18:54 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The quickest way to be regarded as a dissenter by a lot of American Catholics is if you listen to the guidance of the Pope and the bishops regarding non-sexual moral issues.

08.03.2026 17:28 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 1 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Iโ€™m not against it per se; just saying I donโ€™t think the moral law *demands* that the child of a Saudi grad student is a US citizen forever because he was born while his parents were here temporarily. I think it should stay as it is, if only to protect the more serious cases.

What countries?

08.03.2026 18:11 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Itโ€™s just so funny that they name people from a very particular subculture

08.03.2026 17:27 ๐Ÿ‘ 2 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Read the comment I just added lol

08.03.2026 17:13 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Basically, it should be based on where your home demonstrably is, not necessarily where you were born. I do think birthright citizenship is the best proxy for this, though.

08.03.2026 17:13 ๐Ÿ‘ 6 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Whatโ€™s funny is I sort of agree that *birth* need not be the determiner of citizenship; I actually donโ€™t think thereโ€™s anything morally wrong with not granting citizenship ship to children of tourists, students, etc. Otoh people who arrived here as children should be citizens unconditionally.

โ€œAll these guys whose whole thing is pushing back against the bishops where Church teaching conflicts with MAGAโ€

08.03.2026 17:03 ๐Ÿ‘ 13 ๐Ÿ” 1 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 3 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Oh I remember but I also remember people being pissed that Pope John Paul II condemned it. And Fr Groeschel is literally the guy I learned to love people of other faiths from lol.

08.03.2026 14:27 ๐Ÿ‘ 2 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I canโ€™t imagine Fr Groeschel supporting that view. Wtf is wrong with people.

Tbh not sure what the result would ultimately be if that were the case.

But they did get their shit rocked at New Orleans

(One thing Iโ€™ve learned as a Catholic is that when I have disagreements with libs/progs it tends to be over how virtues like compassion are best applied; with the right itโ€˜s that they reject virtues and constraints altogether)

08.03.2026 14:15 ๐Ÿ‘ 4 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Amazing how a shift in evils supported by the government can make a bishop who previously seemed lukewarm into a fiery prophetic voice.

(To be clear, nothing in my life approaches the evils supported and perpetrated by this admin)

08.03.2026 14:07 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Yeah except I think Yarvin doesnโ€™t believe or doesnโ€™t care in a silent majority. Most people I know really do think the country is largely in favor of their side, but the numbers are manipulated.

08.03.2026 13:51 ๐Ÿ‘ 2 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I feel like this should be a bigger deal than it is among the people who were shocked at Obamaโ€™s tan suit and Zelenskyyโ€™s lack of suit, but Iโ€™m really starting to wonder if itโ€™s all fake outrage based only on tribalism โ€ฆ
