We are families, workers, students, business owners, leaders — people who contribute every single day to the cities we call home. To be spoken about as if we don’t belong, as if we’re not valued, is hurtful and unacceptable.
What Donald Trump said about the Somali community is not only disrespectful, it’s dangerous. As a proud Somali and someone who deeply loves my community, hearing a former president speak about us with such hate and dehumanizing language is beyond frustrating.
