sometimes people are like "what if we delay puberty via puberty blockers till they can decide" but in my experience this isn't necessary because once you're going through a puberty or are aware of it you start knowing what you like and don't. so just pick the puberty whenever.

Reminder: T2 diabetes is not something you get for being fat. Being fat isn't something worthy of punishment. It's also not something that's relevant to T2 diabetes, because T2 diabetes is genetic, and the balance of evidence suggests it works the opposite way: having T2 is how T2 havers get fat.
Being in the diabetic community is exactly what I feared it would be when I was "normoglycaemic" but anxious about getting diabetes because I was fat. This diagnosis is an open license for everybody to say to you all the out-of-pocket shit they're itching to say to any fatty they see.
