Also got a chance to present our recent #EPR research at the 'Future of Biomedicine' conference πŸ€”. It was a fantastic gathering of Russia's top biological community at the impressive FEFU campus on Russky Island. It even has waterfalls! 😎

Had a great trip to Vladivostok, one of the eastern cities of Russia.
Open sea, magnificent views, very great weather... which results in too, too many photos 🫠

In our study @elife.bsky.social we uncover the mechanism of mPPase inhibition. Over 20x structures to date are in a symmetric form. We use EPR(PELDOR/DEER) and reveal asymmetric binding at the active site while maintaining symmetric conformation at periplasmic site

Our institute is located in Novosibirsk, which, as you might guess, is quite cold! In here, snow in May is quite a common occurrence

Exploring combined spin-labeling approach for structural studies of mRNA in the human ribosome In this study, we investigated the structural variability of mRNA in the human ribosome by comparing two spin-labeling strategies: one involving an mRNA analog

We also use EPR to investigate supramolecular biological objects, such as ribosome-RNA complexes. In our recent work we have compared different spin labeling approaches for the investigation of ribosome-mRNA binding. Turns out, contradictory results may, in fact, be okay!

Enhanced Binding Site Identification in Protein–Ligand Complexes with a Combined Blind Docking and Dipolar Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Approach Understanding protein–drug complex structures is crucial for elucidating therapeutic mechanisms and side effects. Blind docking facilitates site identification but is hindered by computational complex...

In our most recent work we have developed new approach to the detection of binding sites using information from #EPR as a filtering and validation tool combined with molecular modeling algorithms

Revealing light-induced structural shifts in G-quadruplex-porphyrin complexes: a pulsed dipolar EPR study The binding of G-quadruplex structures (G4s) with photosensitizers is of considerable importance in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery due to their promising potential in photodynamic therapy appl...

One of our focus points is an application of laser EPR spectroscopy for the investigation of photoactive biological systems. For example, we have shown that EPR allows detection of laser-induced changes in (strange) DNA quadruplexes complexed with photosensitizers doi.org/10.1039/D3CP...

As a (currently) only member of our group, I will take this as an opportunity to showcase some of our recent works about #EPR applied to complex structural #biology problems!
