Longshot, there's a scent sport for dogs called barn hunt. Not sure who runs it in the US, maybe the AKC. The rats go in safe little tubes & are hidden for the dogs to find. They're treated with great respect & rewarded for their work. If there's a local org, you might be able to hang with them.

This is fun. As a colour-blind guy on the wrong side of 30, I surprised myself.

The world will only say enough to rogues (nations, individuals) that they have the capability to punish: those less powerful, or those from whom they don't stand to gain.

Inquiry for New York Times

Good afternoon,
My name is [REDACTED]
and l am a reporter for the
New York Times. I am researching how much money the Palestinian diaspora community has sent to support Gazan families since the war in Gaza began. Does your team track this figure? I really appreciate it.
With gratitude,

Palestine Diaspora Movement

Hello [REDACTED]
We do not collaborate with The New York Times.
Your email asks about money sent to Gazan families "since the war in Gaza began." Let us first correct the premise. This is not a war. It is a genocide. Calling it a war is part of the problem. It obscures the reality of a colonized people being massacred by a military machine backed by the United States and defended, sanitized, and rhetorically softened by institutions like yours.
The New York Times has spent far too long parroting Zionist propaganda and laundering Israeli state narratives while Palestinians bury their dead. That kind of coverage does not merely misinform. It helps create the political climate in which Palestinian slaughter becomes explainable, defensible, and forgettable.
So no, we will not be sharing any figures, internal data, or community information with a paper that has so thoroughly damaged its credibility on Palestine. Quite frankly, we would rather chew jeans than help The New York Times extract from our community while continuing to fail it.
Do not contact us again for this purpose, The Palestine Diaspora Movement Team

This is a good analogy. Very useful in carefully controlled settings for specific usages, but unfortunately being widely inserted into everything and used without training or PPE and poisoning a lot of things and people and we’re going to pay a tonne of money to remove it safely in the future

Besides, the axed civil service & NSCC & other slashed unis workforces' withdrawal from the economy will counterbalance a 1% HST cut.

Conservatives are historically much worse at stewarding the economy than Liberals, but this is beyond even mismanagement: this is intentional & ideologically-driven.

We know that international law, the U.S. constitution, and just human decency are supposed to mean something, are supposed to matter. But the powerful just push that away, and then the sycophants try to tell us why it doesn't matter, actually.

It does matter. We should fight for that.

He'll be remembered among the people as the most despised president, but the USA as a sluggish & conservative institution, both dominant parties, and corporate-owned media will rehabilitate him ("don't speak ill of the dead") and leave his name on stuff unless activists & protesters keep up pressure

Yep that sounds like something a totally-not-fascist who was just there to *checks notes* "protest against Mark Carney's economic policies" would say. I'm glad the majority still sees through these clowns.

"For decades, libertarian thinkers had argued that free markets, left unrestrained, would naturally outperform any system of government. But what if the problem wasn’t just government interference in marketsβ€”what if the very concept of democracy itself was flawed?"

New from me: It is not just that the US is experiencing democratic backsliding. Authoritarianism has emerged more quickly than in other benchmark countries.

This graph from John Burn-Murdoch sums it up. 🧡
