Algorithmic bias can shape elections. Similar patterns emerged in Germany's 2025 election, suggesting systematic cross-country amplification. The researchers call for transparency and data access frameworks like the EU's #DigitalServicesAct to enable independent study while protecting privacy.
This contradicts pre-2022 research showing no amplification of extremes. The shift likely stems from algorithm changes following #Musk 's acquisition, particularly the late-2023 update to "surface smaller accounts."
