Pss -- "There are also high numbers of UK excavated remains held by Armagh city, Banbridge and Craigavon borough council in Northern Ireland (6,400 items, representing only 10 individuals)"...
Ps -- from the title to the footnote: about half of the all items identified are in fact... from UK archaeological excavations !?!
To conclude the dossier, The Guardian gives us a tool "Which human remains are held in UK museums โ and where?" --> www.theguardian.com/world/2026/m...
"Descendants of Zimbabwe resistance heroes urge UK to locate looted skulls" --> www.theguardian.com/world/2026/m...
"Of the 28,914 items of human remains known to originate from outside Europe, 11,856 were identified as coming from Africa, 9,550 from Asia, 3,252 from Oceania, 2,276 from North America, and 1,980 from South America".
Fruit of a campaign to return human remains to Africa and an FOI by @theguardian.com which uncovers "260,000 items of remains, often [held] in sacrilegious ways"

CONCLUSION? Aside the issue of the reliability of "data", trade between Mozambique and the United Arab Emirates has only increased threefold since 2018 ๐ซค
Goind to the source (the United Nations Comtrade database), one finds that Mozambique exported $179 mio to UAE in in 2024 and that the data for UAE import from MZ is not available
The latter graph is from TRADING ECONOMICS which doesn't correspond to the former data -- $142 mio export vs $670 mio. To make it worse, Trading Economics says in one page that MZ exported to UAE $179.51 mio and in another page that UAE Imported $1.01 Billion from from MZ...
This is the summary of Mozambique's export to the UAE
up to 2024. 78% of the export in 2024 was "Mineral fuels, oils, distillation products"
Here is a summary of economic relations in $ (2023)
h/t Observatory of Economic Complexity
Pdt Chapo of #Mozambique is visiting the United Arab Emirates. Officially to attend the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, but in effect also to woo investors & foster inter-state relations. The UEA only opened diplomatic representation in Mz in 2015. Since 2018 economic exchanges have increased sixfold
