It's hard to believe that just 15 years ago, this was virtually empty space, with none of the native trees, epiphytic mosses, yellow flag, reed buntings, bullfinches, or other life now present, and increasing in diversity year on year.

Rewilding is how we reverse nature loss in Ireland.

Marsh tit singing in a wood first mentioned in the Domesday Book, a wood which NWT is actively expanding, for the first time in those thousand years.

I’m the first onto the rides this morning and there are hares everywhere.

Book cover: charcoal sketch of Heaney's face by Colin Davidson

Finished Late Heaney by @dedalusdenaries.bsky.social a careful and perceptive reading of post-Nobel Heaney. Even allowing for the bias of my pre-existing affection and respect for Nicholas, this was hugely impressive.

This is not simply an analysis or a dissection ... (contd.)

The first lesson of war is β€˜know your enemy’ – and Britain’s enemy now is Donald Trump | Simon Tisdall As the Iran disaster escalates, the US president should be seen as an enemy whose actions threaten the lawful, democratic way of life everywhere, says Guardian foreign affairs commentator Simon Tisdal...

I’m trying to share positive nature stuff but, well, in the enveloping global darkness, this from Simon Tisdall is spot on. We desperately need wisdom, empathy and restraint from our global leaders and, in Britain, courage to step away from Trump. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Crikey, we moved out of our lovely village three years ago (still miss it) for reasons like the cost of oil. Our energy efficient is soulless but economical. And the price of hay, yikes!
