We used to have the black and white newsprint Essentials for this but now it's like they keep it all under lock and key of hundred dollar omnibuses
There's this question of Perlmutter banning them from keeping inventory stock so loads of stuff just goes out of print and stays there. Panini definitely do a world of good with their reprints, I miss those pocketbooks. At least we have them keeping some of this in print for us at better prices

For a while "Marvel Masterworks" meant inexpensive small format classic stories. Then it went back to meaning high end hardcover collections. The last one I ordered by mistake expecting a 12 quid digest turned up as a 66 quid volume I will simply never sell for cover price.
RELRP I'm seeing it happen, Marvel is withering in my shop. DC is not only consistently more appealing to my customers but to me, the guy who decides what to order for stock. Every month I'm looking at Marvel TPBs like "nah" while DC are shovelling more backlist bangers out all the time.

The way it diverges more from the source as it goes is such an interesting storytelling experiment when it could just have stayed a HD remaster and still made bank. Individual scenes describe this in micro. You think Gendo will say "this is Adam" when he opens the box but they change it at the last
Rewatching Eva Rebuild like, the very first shot is the last shot of EoE. Kaworu is the only one that knows it's a cycle. Shinji escapes Samsara in the end. I wish it didn't have this meta angle so I could say it isn't that good but it grasps me

I spent some time today checking out parts of Hickman's lead up to Secret Wars and I still think that's a huge pinnacle of modern Marvel storytelling. An insane amount of moving parts taking in some cases years to move into position. The film will absolutely not do this because it's out Next Year
