So the establishment was kind enough to refund by e-transfer the HST charges on food, wine, beer but not the spirits. This poor small business owner has been dealing with the mix ups all day! The Canadian govt has lost its way!

"Yes right. beer, wine and pre mixed cans are HST exempt. . Anything more than 22% alcohol has HST on it." ..

Ridiculous amount of work for businesses everywhere! and.. Rules make no sense! From the owner of the establishment we ate at Saturday night after calling them to inquire why HST charged in error on entire bill.
