As a point of comparison, the US spent $21 billion in FY 2022 to feed billions of breakfasts and lunches to kids in schools across our whole country for an entire year under the universal school meals program that was later discontinued.

Some troubling stats from today's committee hearing at the #ncga:

These pediatrician moms have a shared message: Release all children in immigration detention
They didn’t know each other at the beginning of the year. Now these medical professionals text daily in their effort to advocate for the well-being of migrant children.
'We are traumatizing children, and we are putting them in dangerous environments.’ Pediatricians have been warning about dire health consequences for children in immigration detention. I spoke with a trio of doctors who are demanding action from the federal government. 19thnews.org/2026/03/pedi...

Pullen’s Planted Seed Continues To Grow
In celebration of March 7, the anniversary of NC State University's founding, and the upcoming Day of Giving on March 25, we celebrate Richard Stanhope Pullen, the institution’s first benefactor.
Richard Stanhope Pullen, the philanthropist who became NC State’s first benefactor, had almost as many eccentricities as large tracts of land that he donated to communities across the state. In commemoration of the anniversary of NC State's founding, we celebrate Pullen's legacy.

The people standing between students and ICE? Teachers.
With immigration enforcement keeping kids from class, educators are going beyond the curriculum — driving students to school, delivering groceries and even paying rent to support vulnerable families.

NC early voting pro tip: If you are an NC registered voter but have moved WITHIN your county of registration but not yet updated your address, you can EASILY do this at early voting check-in. If you wait until primary day March 3 to do this, it may require a time consuming provisional ballot. #ncpol

Jokes on them.
Women’s US hockey has won a medal in 100% of the Olympic Games they have attended.
Men’s US hockey team has won a medal in less than 50% of the Olympic Games they have attended. Men’s team also had not won a gold since 1980.
The women’s team has a better record.

So when thousands of women (and children) were being duplicated--including in non-consensual AI porn--it was no big deal. But it took "only a 15-sec clip" of these two famous white men to draw outrage and fear. Gotcha. Cool cool.

ICE to begin detaining immigrants inside Social Circle warehouse in April
Homeland Security plans to build warehouse detention facilities in other cities being met with opposition.
ICE has now spent over half a BILLION dollars just on purchasing warehouses around the country to convert into detention camps.
If these mega-camps are utilized to the full capacity ICE intends, they'll be the largest prisons in the country, with little real oversight. www.ajc.com/politics/202...

Every once in a while something will jump out as exceptionally offensive enough to be a minor story, but somehow it's not generally treated as a newsworthy story unto itself that the most powerful man in the world spends all day every day posting a constant stream of consciousness of deranged slop.

They didn't include any voter ID requirements in the SAVE Act because, as problematic and abused as those laws are to be sure, the quantifiable effects are pretty marginal. Dems still win elections in states w/ voter ID all the time. They want something much more radical and harmful than that.

Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic change.
Air pollution fell substantially as the city restricted car traffic and made way for parks and bike lanes.
“Air pollution fell substantially as Paris restricted car traffic and made way for parks, people-streets and bike-lanes.”
Better for the climate, better for health, better for livability and quality of life.
Common sense.
Such a no-brainer, it’s remarkable that more cities HAVEN’T done the same.
